Is fall when they have all of the fabric sales? Thousands of bolts is having a $3.96 per yard sale and Connecting threads is having their solids and blenders for 40% off. What's a quilter supposed to do? I am horribly tempted, with prices going to $13 per yard these prices feel almost like an investment.

I know what you mean. That Christmas fabric I got at the LQS in Atlanta was $12.25/yard. Nope, didn't buy extra this time!

I got the August FabShop blowout sale list, and there's a couple on there that have some of their fabrics BOGO either 1/2 off or free. SeaWatch Fabrics has all their inventory for $7.25/yard or less, mostly batiks & Asians, because the owners are retiring. I need some solids for my embroidery, and it's so tempting!

I'm going home next week and i want to buy some solids, but i don't want dh to get another package in the mail for me! Lol. I bought a brother machine at shopgoodwill.com for $13 and had to tell dh. It was coming so he didn't get all huffy that i was buying more "stuff". I didn't expect to get it. Lesson-- do not bid on something if you don't really want it. Lol. He has started counting machines. Well, if i can't buy fabric, and i have enough clothes-- anybody need some clothes?-- i have to buy something! It's better than buying food-- oops, i did that, too! I need retail therapy!!! Help!!!

I was bad Saturday. I bought a little bit though, not a lot. Went to Joann's for fabric to match what I bought the weekend before for Elisabrat's runner swap. I ended up buying solid orange since I couldn't find anything I was happy with. I also picked up 3 yrs of solid white, which I'll use part of for Elisabrat's housewarming gift. Then I went to check out the remnants. I lucked up! There was a 2-tone orange swirl the perfect size for a runner or wallhanging, which will now be the backing for my fall runner ($3). There was also a perfect fabric for the backing for Elisabrat's housewarming gift, again, just enough for the project ($4). But where I fell down was on the 2 extras I bought. I already have this dark, rich blue marble I've been hoarding for our quilt, if I can ever figure out which pattern I want, but I couldn't leave the nearly 1 yard remnant there! I got 1 more...what was it? I can't remember now, but it definitely wasn't a planned buy either. Anyway, I got to the front, and happy days! I had two 40% off coupons to use on the solid fabrics, the remnants of course were 50% off, and then I had a Hobby Lobby coupon I found online too. All total I left the store with about 5 yards of fabric for $20 & some change. 2 pieces plus whatever is left of the orange and the white will go in my stash. With the new embroidery machine, I have a feeling the white will go fast though.

So its my turn to confess. I tried to resist, I really did. Thousands of Bolts had a sale for under $4 a yard. I went "pretend" shopping, putting items in the cart. A couple days went by, I actually hoped they would sell out of my choices. No such luck. So out came the ole debit card. Now the rest of the story. I moved about two years ago. Who knew I hadn't ordered since? The good news is my daughter is living in my old house. The bad news is she now has a very large box of fabric and lives almost 80 miles away. Now here is my question, do I get fewer demerits for my purchase since I havn't been able to pet it. Since I won't actually receive it should it count against Sept rather than August?

I bet you are nodding rigorously to emphasize that statemene too. (I understand coz I have pain in my neck muscles from the same exercise, lol).

No demerits at all - how could you resist such a great sale? IMPOSSIBLE!

I've been turning my solid FQs into HSTs and a wall hanging (ready to be quilted) and a small community quilt (almost assembled).

Pat: Great minds, I came very close to asking her to open it up and text me a picture but my family already thinks I'm wonky where fabric is concerned. Didn't want to add fuel to that fire.
Martina: At last you've helped me locate my justification muscle, it is clearly located in my neck where it gets plenty of excercise from saying yes to fabric. Congrats on the project. Show us some pictures!
I knew I could come here for some heart felt sympathy. Thanks guys.

Add 2 yards to the stash purchases for August. I went to the LQS to get a border for a church quilt - I did, but I also bought 2 yards of a gorgeous black rose on red for my b/w quilt. Trouble is,that quilt is way down on the list so the fabric was unneeded at this time. Thank goodness the sale ends this week. I did resist looking at the batiks so I deserve some credit.
