Even though I thought I'd never attempt a fabric moratorium, I guess I've been secretly doing very well! I've made a few quilt tops from my stash. I've only bought 2 yds of white on white. I do need more and plan on shop hopping in September. If we plan on falling off the wagon, do we state this in advance? Probably not the wisest thing to do, huh? The white is for a royal squares quilt that I was dared to do. If it was a dare, does that purchase really count? I really didn't have any more white on white. That's what I'll be picking up from the shop hop too, whites.

Glad you climbed on the wagon with us orangeroom. I don't think your white on white counts as a demerit as it is for a planned project. I think we are all just trying hard to not buy stuff that 'we think we need' and then it sits on a shelf. Buying fabric for a specific purpose and using it right away is ok in my book. :-) I am staying on the wagon fairly well for now but do have to look for just 1/2 yard of a certain yellow to finish a scrappy quilt I am doing as a leader-ender project. So that won't count against me if and when I find it. :-)

So - here's my story......(head hanging in shame). I haven't bought ANY fabric (except for a half yard piece with puppies that look like my puppy) in the past couple of months. Well, if you don't count those scrap bags of batiks from the Vermont Quilt Festival. But TWICE in the same period I was asked to take, FREE OF CHARGE, fabrics that were (a)left over from a charity project and (b) from an estate of a deceased quilter who I don't even know!!! It seems that once I decided I wasn't going to buy any fabrics the Goddess of all Things Quilty decided I really did need to add to the stash and has been bringing it my way for free. Sheesh - just added 30 yards to the stash. Hope the floor in the quilting room holds up under the weight of all that stash!

My BIL still laughs that we built our house on a huge rock shelf and my sewing room is in the walk out basement!!!
I am so proud of myself today. Stopped at the LQS looked at some fabric; chatted with the owner and walked out with a smile on my face and no package in my hands.

Well the wagon took off without me again. No I think I ran off and left it behind!
Anyway, I deliberately and with planned forethought went to get some Houston Texans and football fabric for a quilt for DS who works in their ticket office. And had just joined the funky chicken swap so had an eye out for cute chickens too, which they had. So far so good, right?
Well they had the evergreen forest fabric I had wanted more of awhile back and couldn't find any, so that one was sort of ok...only got one yard.
Then the autumn leaves spoke to me as well as a darker brown blender that is something I can always use. (Goes with both the leaves and the football fabric and plenty of other things in my stash).
Left several others behind that could have followed along, so I don't feel especially guilty!!!

Here it is, the last day of August, the unofficial last day of summer. When I was school age, September always seemed much more like the beginning of the year, rather than New Year's day, so I'm going to renew my resolution! After slipping a bit this month, I'm going to stay strong for the rest of the challenge, even though other members have thoughtfully provided excellent reasons to purchase more fabric and creative ways to store it! How did everyone else do? If you haven't posted recently (or even if you have!) give us a quick update.

Okay, I am going to whine a bit. How can I stay strong when they are having such great sales? My son and DDIL are going to drop the misdirected LARGE package of fabric by today. Yum, yum, can hardly wait. Then I am going to get back on that wagon and hang on for dear life. Wish I could take credit but I had to replace my washer and dryer and property taxes are going to be coming due, its amazing what a motivater an empty wallet is.
Mom-6 realy understand about the leaf fabric. Fall colors have really been calling to me this year.
