I've been really good in December. Only bought the rulers and some thread which I needed. No added fabric, and like nancia I also ignored the temptation of the sales emails. Fact is, there is no more room in my cabinet for any more fabric. No kidding. I could possibly squeeze a rolled piece here and there but then it all comes tumbling out when I actually need to pull from the stack. So I am being a good girl!

On another note, I just found out that I need to eliminate dairy products from my diet for a month (trying to determine if that is my allergy) and if I have to give up cheese (food of the gods as far as I'm concerned), I have to get my fix somewhere. When I don't eat cheese, I won't need to drink wine. So what is left? Fabric? argh!

Martina-- let's not get crazy! Bruschetta goes wonderfully with wine, as does hummus, and chocolate ( but not mixed together, I would think, and only the 80% dark with no milk), andi'm sure there are plenty of other things! Crudités, cruds , as we call them, go with everything, add a vinagariette , yum. Heck, even plain chips, salsa and tortilla chips, i have been lactose intolerant for years! And you'd never know it to look at me! Lol. Think outside the milk carton! And embrace your inner soy milk, or other, non-dairy self. I love silk soy. So life has not ended.

I feel you on losing the cheese.. I too love it. but here it is.. I am on dialysis. lots of no no foods dairy being one. dry dairy is ok like parmesan, swiss and then randomly cream cheese are ok in small amounts. Makes one crave cheddar or brie instantly. I do allow however like two teaspoons of feta or so couple times a month. that's it. no ice cream, no pudding, no yogurts. I am not starving however. I eat as much fruit as I am allowed, as much raw veggies for snacks there are things you can.. switch for now til you find out if its the dairy or not.. then you learn to enjoy or shall I say embrace your new you and nope it doesn't lead to smaller pants unfortunately. darn it all!

I hit my ufos today. I am so proud of me! lol found 8 quilts needing sashing sigh, took one of the quilts I had half quilted horribly I add, and took all the stitching of the quilting out. took 3 hours. I will have it professionally quilted and be happy with it then I took a finished top which I had slammed dunked horribly together and well it was never going to be quilted unless I did it right. So.. 7 hours later I had all the sashing removed, the tiny threads picked and its new and ready to be put together again in a fashion that I would be proud of gifting. Lesson to self: never work on something your not into or you will be doing this again and again. I hope never to do this again. It was a truly unfun day and darned my finger tips hurt from all that picking and pulling. grand start to my new years resolution on moritoriums and well ufos. why wait?

HA, I knew it, you are my sistas from another mista. lol Thanks for the words of encouragement. I know that life goes on. I have heard of cheese substitutes but that doesn't even SOUND right. Who knows, maybe I can add a little cheese back later. sigh Geesh, I should feel ashamed for my woe-is-me attitude with all that Brat has to deal with.

On the quilty side I had me a good laugh last night. Posted it on the main board. WHAT WAS I THINKING? But it shows how much I have learned.

I also signed up for the Craftsy "Finishing" Class with Mimi Dietrich and finished a community service quilt last night that started as leftover 4" patches from another project. Made the center but found it too small and non-descript. Then I pulled the striped fabric from my stash and added the border. I really like how it came out. It is an odd combination but I think it works. Used the backing pulled to the front to bind (learned that in the class) and it went SOOOO fast. Also used a serpentine stitch from my machine to do the quilting.

Now I need to get off this board and pick another UFO to tackle.

Martina: Love the border, it adds so much. I am beginning to really focus on border prints and stripes. They add so much when used in a border or as binding.

Martina, I love the little quilt you created from the 4-patches. Lucky recipient. On the moratorium side, I am doing ok and only bought a few fabrics that I needed to finish Brat's..Road Runners Round Robin. I have hers and just had nothing in my stash that matched it. My goal next is to start on granddaughter's quilt and only use from stash. Looking forward to this same topic for 2014!

Well here it is 2014. Since Dec 1st I have bought only one yard for a round robin that nothing matched in my stash.. I have visually bought however about 25 yrds of this and that. I get that darned equilter thing in my mail box and I stupidly look at the pics then click on it just for the heck of it then see a page of 50 fabrics.. yikes get out of my sight line!

I am making a medallion style/round robin type quilt in my block of the month forum. I have decided to dedicate that quilt to the little scraps that sit on my shelves. Most are between 10" and less than a f/4. Tons of them. So a rainbow quilt it will be and I hope to make a dent in that pile.. hope with me. I just finished yellow orange and it sure didn't make too grand a dent lol but that was round one. Now I hope to kill a bit of the orange/red in the next stint. hope is a big word here. lots in that darned pile!

Elisabrat: Its a constant source of amazement to me that I can make a bed size quilt and see no noticeable change in my scrap bin.
