happylab, you are being so productive! Good idea on the Christmas UFO's. Is the motorcycle top and the other one also Christmas or are they things you just need to finish now? Good luck sounds like you will be busy.

I'm making small mug rugs, have 2 done and about 9 more to go. I have a fabric Christmas book to make and a number of other things I've come up with and all pulled from my stash. So far so good.

Several years ago I started this quilt for real, top was done, batting was cut..

http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...lt-t73694.html

..what held me back from finishing it was the backing. I needed to widen it so pieced a strip of 9Ps on point with the white fabric--ran out of white fabric so there it sat and twisted and turned and gathered dust and well you get the idea. Last night decided to come up with an idea to get it done. I finished the 9P setting with the backing fabric; then cut the backing 12" from one edge and inserted the pieced strip. Will share pics, but right now quilt and backing are neatly folded in fourths waiting to be sandwiched with the batting.

Rhonda Lee, my 2 projects are going to be early Christmas presents. I'll send them out after I get them done. So I can make more room so I can finish other UFO's.

Hi, everyone!

You are all doing such great jobs on your UFOs.

I've spent the summer piddling with mom's rail fence.

Well, dang. Tried to upload pictures. I guess they are too big. Sigh. After I hit upload, the website icon just spun & spun. How long does it generally take? I could be too impatient.

I took all mom's blocks apart. I sewed them together diagonally, ending up with light blocks and dark blocks. I put them together darks w/ dark, ditto lights. I am alternating dark & light in rows.

so far, I have 6 rows of 5, am in process of putting another block on each row. I have enough for another row of 6, so at last count it will be 6x7 blocks (nearly 12", so far 72x84). I found some more blocks though, so I don't know what I will do next. 7x7 would be 84x84, square. I guess I could do something at top & bottom to make it longer. I like using quilts on beds, so prefer they not be square. I'm 6'1", so I like them long enough to go all the way up over my shoulders. There's always 6x8, 72x96. This is all before borders.

I had seven quilts with the binding machine sewn, just need to hand stitch it to the back. I have two finished and 2/3 sewn of the third. I like to hand sew when the weather is cooler. I still have three others to trim and bind. And four to have quilted.

I forecast that we are going to see a huge number of finishes in the last quarter of the year. Seems like a lot of us finished the tops and just waited until cooler weather to complete.

Emma, so very true. I have three quilts waiting for binding but it's been way too hot to sit with a quilt in my lap doing the hand sewing. Hope to finish them soon now that fall temperatures are finally here. Unfortunately, I'm in the process of accumulating new UFO's to replace the finished ones. I'll be attending three days of classes with Bonnie Hunter in October so that means three newly started quilts. I don't think I'll ever get to an "even" place but am so enjoying the process of trying! Without this thread I probably wouldn't have finished any of the UFO's that got done so far this year. I actually have several Christmas gifts ready way ahead of schedule! Thanks to everyone for all the encouraging words and support through the year.
