I have not bought fabric in so long - no money to spend on it. I read about the work with what is on hand. That is something I need to start doing. Several years ago I actually sold fabric to raise money because of looming homelessness. And I have never recovered, but that is ok.

MadQuilter, can you post a photo of the 25 FQ quilt? Or the name of it, to google it to see some pictures of it? I'd like a FQ friendly project!
I'm not Madquilter, but I like the original Turning Twenty pattern. The full size uses 20 FQs, but I make a smaller size with 12 FQs. The quilt makes up really fast and is a wonderful charity quilt or last minute gift. I sorted most of my FQs into 9 bundles of 12. My aim is to make all 9 bundles into these quilts.

The result reminds me a little bit of how you can mix up pieces using the disappearing 9-patch idea. Thanks for sharing it! I can see a lot of examples by googling 'turning twenty quilt.' I'm leaning toward an idea of just cutting squares and seeing what I come up with pattern-wise. The FQ is not a square, of course, but saving the leftover for some type of strip quilt could be an option.
Sometimes I feel swamped with options...

That's a great way to use up and feature FQs, belfrybat.

Hubs and I started back on the house renovation. His shoulder is OK again so we can continue creating calm out of chaos. How to fit quilting time is a bit of a challenge right now. At least I'll be too tired to wanna buy fabric.

Just1MoreStitcher - We all need to be thankful for what we have. Thanks for the reminder. Hopefully your situation has improved. Sometimes ... I have more than I need, and I need to pare down. I still want more. *sigh*

I forgot to mention that except for purchasing one yard of Civil War fabric for the monthly swap, I haven't purchased any this year. I don't count the swap fabric because the recipient specifically asked for Civil War fabric and although I included a couple of pieces that were "sort of" Civil War from my stash, I wanted to make sure she got at least one "real" piece. And I'm down another 11 yards from my stash for backings for three quilts I've just finished. That is 33 yards from my stash. Not yet bound, but when they are I'll post pics on the UFO thread.

I just joined the National Quilters Quilt Block Challenge. I am going to try to make the quilt and will use only what I have. So far, I have two fabrics selected and plan to stick with this one. I need to use what I have instead of finding new fabric to purchase.

So far so good. Everyone seems to be shopping their stash. Yay way to go folks!!

I've been taking my dads shirts apart. He passed away about 4 years ago and I've just been able to tackle the shirts now. Sigh. Sometimes things aren't so easy. I've been cutting them into strips for quilts for my adult children. One for me too. It's rather time consuming but I'm really getting a lot of fabric from the shirts. I'm doing a Jacobs ladder design from his shirts. On the flip side will be fabric from square dancing dresses that were moms. And there is miles of fabric in the dresses. That design is pinwheels. The name of the quilt will be The square Dancers. Mom is still alive. She'll be 90 this year and still lives at home and does very well. Sooo, this project will take some time and no fabric will be purchased. I have this one covered!!

Rhonda Lee, that is a great project. I know those things aren't always easy, but it might also be therapeutic for you. It was for me when my mom died. Thoughts and hugs for your loss.
