Cathy, sorry I misspoke....I'll chalk it up to breaking my arm a week ago...can't to ANY quilting/sewing of any kind! You use a spray starch...which in itself creates a steam environment. I haven't used mine for a few months so had to go back and look. So...leaving the iron on too long after spray starching can warp. I probably just got a little too aggressive.

I just found out that I get a snow day tomorrow! Hoping to put the free time to good use on a AoTH block or two. Its a little crazy out there, we shoveled twice already today. Once at 3 pm and once an hour ago, and you can't even tell that we shoveled at all.

I did it! I was able to cut out and "piece" two blocks today. By that, I mean iron fuse the pieces to the background square. I'm going to make several blocks and do all the Satin stitching at once, to minimize the thread swapping. I redid block one, since I was very unhappy with how my original came out, and started block 7. Next up: Blocks 3,4, and 6.

I'm not sure which one I'm working on, I think it's 25 or something like that - an easier one for sure! Had other things take priority for a while, but I did get a heart stitched on last night!

For the gold set, I'm also going to put several together for machine applique, and do the stitching at one time. I'm going to have one "practice" piece as I've found the first one or two pieces I stitch around end up being a bit wobbly until I get "in the grove" and then I'm fine. So I'll do that on something else first.

I have not tried the perfect circles yet. I already had the circle done for the block I'm working on now, so I'll try it on the next one with a circle.

When I finished one of my pieces, I realized it wasn't where it was supposed to be. Now I have to rip it off and put it where it belongs. Well, at least the edges are already turned under. Should be easier this time.

Macy, that is a great idea, I'm also going to have a scrap piece to start on.

DD, at least its only one piece, hopefully won't take you too long to fix.

Hmmm - maybe we need to hold a pep rally to get us all motivated!

I've started working on my block that I started two weeks ago. In the mean time, I finished up to swaps I joined, so now that is out of the way!

I wasn't happy with the way my points and inside corners were turning out, so spent some time watching different videos for ideas. Got a few new ideas, but then I tried something different that and it seems to be working. I'm back-stitching when I get close to the point/corner and that is holding everything in place much better.

Tonight I'm going to fuse more pieces for my gold set. I think I'm going to get them all fused and then go to satin stitching them. I really do prefer "assembly line" work. I don't seem to get in the grove quickly, so it seems like I'm just hitting my stride, when I'm on to a different step.

I've been thinking the same think Macy. It's been a little quiet around here the last couple of weeks, me included. How about... since this weekend is Valentine's Day and the quilt is heart themed, we should have a challenge weekend! Everyone could pick a block they want to work on OR I could have a random number generator pick one for us and the goal would be to cut out all the pieces for the block.
