Kaelyn: Nope, totally out of your hands, nothing you can do. Hand him a bowl of chicken soup and enjoy.

OK, I know everyone is doing hand applique, but I remember this was open to all methods, so I wanted to share my blocks so far. Even though these are digitized they still take time to figure out what fabrics and threads to use (the options are endless) and the stitch time. I am enjoying this, but it takes time to complete a block using this method, so there is no way I could do these by hand (since I know that is a real labor of love). (If only I didn't have a day job!!!) I enjoy reading along with your posts and seeing everyone's work. These will be beautiful quilts.

Chickadeee55 - I love seeing the machine embroidery ones. I almost wish I had gone that route just to learn how to use the computer setup with my Pfaff. But instead I'm learning how to hand applique using needle turn - never done that before.

I also have a second set of blocks that I'm machine satin stitching - I have them all cut and fused but have not had time to do any stitching. Mostly because I've been doing other sewing projects. I've got one large non-quilt project I need to get wrapped up, then I'll start on the machine applique blocks.

Marilyn: Beautiful, for some reason the one in the top row center really catches my eye. All the fabric choices are great but I especially like the depth you achieved with those fabrics in particular. Never done anything as complex as this with an embroidery machine but would imagine the tight placement creates real accuracy problems.

Chickadee, absolutely beautiful! Love them all. It doesn't matter how you are making the blocks, this QAL is open to EVERYONE. We will love to see your quilt grow!

Chickadee I am digitizing mine as well.
You are doing a beautiful job on your blocks. Picking the colours and threads is so much fun for this quilt isn't it?

Those are lovely! The colours just pop.

You're going to have one gosh darn beautiful quilt when you finish. I'd hang it on the wall!

Ladies: I am sooooo enjoying seeing your blocks. It just goes to show just how differently we can interpret the same pattern: all wonderful and unique.

Finished this one last night. It's number 7 in the book.

I've been working on block #30 and enjoying it - except those darn inside corners on the curlyQ shapes (or scrolls or whatever). I just hate them - they end up looking bad no matter what I try.

I also looked more closely at the book - and most of the time, the stitched example is not near as tight as the pattern. And to be honest, I don't like how most of them look either -

I'll either skip those with that design element, or modify the design a bit so I'm not dealing with tight inside corners. Then I'll stop dreading picking up the needle!

Macybaby I was looking at those scrolly things too. I was think that if you cut the scroll and made it 2 pieces. One is the arc and the other is a circle that might work easier. I don't think the stitching in the book is very good either. If you are taking such close up pictures you would think they would get someone who could do better quality work. The embroidery is very loose too. Too big stitches there. But that just makes we want to make mine look better.
