Hi all. I just wanted to share some little projects I've done with the Shiva Paintstiks I've been experimenting with lately. Here's a like to some eyeglass cases I made this week. http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...o-t195177.html I just dropped these three off at a local gallery where I sell some of my work.

Good sales, Wendy! They're beautiful!

For those interested in batiking, large electric flat griddles, electric fry pans, and bullet blenders are on sale at Macy's for $19.99 each. Crayons crayons are 24 ct boxes for 50cents a box at Walmart. You will find me playing outside on the patio tomorrow!

I can't wait to see some of the results. It is 0 degrees here at the moment so I will be inside but I finally have a day to just go play in my studio so I am off to do something....maybe something weird.......feeling rather like that.

Anybody else have any 'Cool and refreshing' challenge results? We'd all love to see them!

Default August

August Challenge is about to come out in a couple of days!

Before that though are there WIP anyone would like to share? I know there are some going on.........I also know how the delights of summer can get in the way.

I'll bet your camera is close at hand. Show us what you are up to and give us a note about what you tried that was new, what you aren't so happy with, what came out much better than you had thot, etc. We'd love some art sharing here.

Default cool and refreshing July challenge

Trying out different stitches on my 'foreign' new Janome 8077, bought here in south america. Also wanted to experiment with a 'fast' stained glass technique.

Hi, I am so busy my eyes are crossing! Lol. Truly tho', I'm trying to get a thousand things done at once! I used the blue water color crayon that Dottie sent me On a 3d dq top. I now have a better idea how they work and how I can get the results I want. Unfortunately, I'm not at all pleased with the dq, just an idea that didn't pan out. More craft than art, and just not enough of anything to be interesting. I'm using an iPad now and don't have a clue how to load pictures, hmmm I think I can Take a pic with the iPad. Anyone have one? I could use the advice!
Oh, Suzie, I had no idea chile got that chilly. I thought of it as more tropical, except maybe the mountains. Guess I'd better google it and become better informed! We have had some really blazing days where 0 sounds pretty darn good! I love to bundle up and get snuggy. Guess that'ts why I love quilts! Friend of mine is quilting two tops for me and I can't wait to see them. I am finally ready to quilt my g'baby's quilt, but have no place to sandwich it. I'm going nuts!
will check in later! Oh, btw, suzie, I love your still life! Is it part of a series?

Default Life in July

Know what you mean about the 'busy' part. But you are out there experimenting and have a pile of projects IP & that is a usually a good thing.

iPad and photos. iPad has no camera itself but there a few ways to jury-rig it if you really want to. It is fiddly and not worth the effort for me so far. So I know only what a few webpages have told me. Altho you can use the iPad as a pass through gadget for transport and storage. iPhone is much easier for that stuff for me. I use my iPad mostly for reading, I can check out library books in the US and load them down here in SA. Voila constant reading material.

Hope you show us those quilt tops and other bits as they get done. You've go me dying to try some crayoning again now.

That wine bottle block was for a charity quilt here. We have a small group of quilters and do a yearly auction quilt. Last year the proceeds bought an older dental chair and the services of a dentist to go out to a small town once a month for people to get care.

And now in my best teacher's voice i will tell you that; Chile contains the driest desert on earth, the Atacama in the north, with the ancient Nazca lines, huge redwood forests down south with trees only slightly smaller than those in Ca., huge mountains including 22,600+ft peaks, a few continuously spouting volcanos and 2850 miles of Pacific coastline with all weathers ending in the strait of Magellan where it gets VERY cold.

But the beauty here leaves so much scope for art to be made....I don't have enough time to finish one thing before I have 20 more ideas I want to do. It was a great place to 'retire' to

I better get to work...............

trouble is everywhere is fertile ground for art! lol, it's rare for me not to have an idea. how to bring an idea to fruition is my favorite part! i love designing and exploring limits, and breaking through them. or just nodding off thinking about possibilities.....

I just finished reading this thread, very interesting. I have never done anything like this and the photos posted are wonderful. It must be so refreshing to just sit in front of some fabric and go with what ever comes to mind. I will continue to follow and hope for more pics to be posted.

Is there an August theme yet, can't wait to see what it will be.
