Welcome! What beautiful memories you have! And the materials you mention could make such a thoughtful and wonderful piece or work. I hope you really get to work on those ideas.

The tyranny of the deadline is for us to make sure we get to work, keep moving and not wind up with another UFO. It is arbitrary though and we will love to see your work whenever you get it done.

I have two projects on the board right now. One is just for fun using up old Halloween scraps and then this month's project which has languished for a few days now. I am getting back to it tomorrow I think.........

Back in NYC from Texas! Got very involved with Dia de los Muertos folk art. There was an exhibit of altars at the museum, commemorating lost ones. This is a joyous holiday, not somber. Many beautiful images. My daughter and I are making calavera banners. The circle of life. I know, somewhere in there, is a celebration of a young friend who passed last year. We are using felt and applique Will post. Dotty

I hope everyone's memory projects are rocking along at a nice pace. Mine decided it wanted to take a 360 turn and become something else entirely. But that surge of creativity is better than a Starbuck's caffeine fix!

I am now using up all scraps I managed to drag to South America from my US stash before our house burned down. They encompass an enormous amount of time from when the children were young and I made them Xmas jammies, table runners for spring in Australia, etc. (Couldn't throw out those scraps no could I?)

The blocks have just enough space for signatures and my husband's BD is in Nov so I will have all our new friends here sign somewhere. Then this whole new project will go in our new house here. I like the circular nature of this project, it will tie things up nicely.

So that is my journey on this month's idea. Funny how life and art take you to territory you never imagined.

What are you all up to in your journeys?

Well, I am working away on my hose quilt. It is all pieced and just needs to be quilted. Hope to finish with it soon.

Default Ideas

My Challenge quilt is all about the Orangemen on the Hill at Syracuse U. but along the way I made a piece for a local musician. I will never forget Billy Joel playing in Central Park after9/11.

Dotcom What great fun that music piece is. And Billy Joel in Central Park must have been very special. There are some memories of that I can tell.

Your photo came just when I was toying with some ideas for my DH who doesn't know it but his new music room (still in the planning stages at this point) will needs several Art Q's.

Thanks for showing it.

Hose?! What am I missing? That sounds so intriguing. I was wondering what ways I could use a hose as a quilting technique...lol.......put paint on it and use it as a stamp? Make channels in the Q and feed small hose thru for dimension? But on a moment's reflection that was probably not what you meant.......

Can't wait to see this piece.

I won't be able to make any art quilts for a while. I have a cyst on my r. wrist that gets bigger every day I use it, and I still have some Christmas presents to make before I can have surgery. I'll keep looking here, though.
