The Franky top will be finished before Halloween, most likely. I can hear you gloating QuiltE.

After testing block placement I decided, with confirmation, that the additional paper-pieced blocks will detract from my main monster pal, Franky. So, surround Franky with colourful blocks and then decide on borders. Truth be told, as the blocks progressed Franky progressed into a more "fun" quilt than the pp monsters and horror movie fabric would support. So, Franky is fun all the way. With a name like Franky how could he be anything but?

Speaking of block placement, I had help this afternoon. Seems like fabric blocks slide really well on hardwood floors. Good thing I had already photographed my final layout.

Oh so much fun! .... hope none of the blocks or strips suffered any from the workout!
Did Dainty get in on the action?
Or just look down her nose at the mischievous Sammi?

I think I redrew it about 15 or 20 times before I tried to make it in to sewable pieces also pictured. He turned out kinda of scruffy but I like him.. He is a monster after all. Shouldn't they look scruffy. LOL

So Here's Mikey -
Now I just have to figure out where to go from here to make a finished item. ???
I like this block!!

They were both frolicking through the blocks. Dainty just happened to get out of the immediate area before I showed up. Since no damage was done, Sammi wasn't worried, and neither was I. A lot of people would be horrified but I appreciate the playfulness of my kitties so, as long as no one and nothing is hurt, I find it quite amusing.

Dainty was just trying to make Sammi look bad!

For all they cost us, our pet-families provide a lot of enjoyment.
Oh how I miss mine!

Heyhey! I've now finished the top for the baby quilt I'm working on. Sorry for the bad quality of the pictures...it's already dark here and not much light in the apartment, so the colors don't show up how they really are. :-/ But here you go!

And here are some close-ups of the corners:

So now I just have to hand quilt it and my friend's due date is October 17th!

Fuzzykittenbutt - that makes me smile. What a wunderful quilt and I really like how the apples in the corners are partially/fully eaten. What a great touch.

Lucky, lucky friend.

As suggested before, draw it out on paper with your measurements and add up all the pieces to determine how much yardage you need.
Remember to add on the 1/4" seam allowances ... and if the same fabric is for the borders and binding, add that in too.
And as before too, buy some extra for the changes along the way, or for any miscalculations ... besides that's how we create a stash!!

You CAN do it and make sure you have enough.
