Wow, I would like to know your secret of staying ahead of the clues! I work more hours then full time, errands are left for the weekend, and between decorating and making cookies, I spent a total of 3 hours on the MQ by getting up at 4am!
Part 1 complete, 7 blocks of part 2, 40 blocks of part 3 and a big fat 0 of Part 4. I will work on this on my days off that are coming up. Lesson learned.....no more MQs for me during Christmas Time for now. Lol

Wow, have you all been busy this weekend! I've just caught up reading several pages of comments after struggling with no internet service since Thursday night. Oh, the joys of living out in the country.

In a couple of weeks we'll all know what this quilt is going to look like when it's complete. Can't wait for the big reveal and sure hope that the fabrics I've chosen work well in this quilt. Speaking of fabric, I ran out of my neutral fabric during the last clue and while auditioning other fabrics from my stash to fill in for clue #4, my DH happened by and told me that I absolutely had to get more of the same fabric to complete this mystery and that he would drive me the 40+ miles to the nearest place to get some. What a guy! Mission completed last night so now I'm ready to work on clue #4 in the morning.

I saw an interesting "guess" from someone in the Monday link up on Bonnie's site and thought I would share it here for those who haven't seen it. This is the type of "mix it up" that she is famous for with the bits and pieces we are sewing in these clues. I think it's a pretty good guess, but am sure it will be a whole lot different than this when it is revealed.

Three cheers for DH! And what a pretty picture! I see this person avoided the problem I discovered this evening while I was revamping my clue #1. I only had a few sample blocks sewn, and I wasn't pleased with all of my fabric interactions, particularly some blues that were too dark and too intense. So I've been trading them out and unpinning and re-pairing pink and blue HSTs. Anyway, I realized I was having an awfully hard time looking at my units. The yellow commands so much attention! Not only is it very bright, but it is quite dynamic, with shadings and lots of movement. I could barely tear my eyes away, and the yellow is completely overwhelming the other colors. I went through all of the various yellows I'd collected to audition, and nothing worked, except for this dull gold that I wouldn't have bought had I realized what it actually looked like (it appeared quite bright on the website). I was rather liking this gold (more of a tan, really), until I saw the picture above. I do want the brightness in the quilt, but I also want to be able to look at it, and for it to be harmonious, rather than one fabric overwhelming everything else. I don't know what to do, other than start looking for a yellow again (but I will think gold/orange this time). I'll post a photo of this tan once I've got my clue #1 units sorted out.

PJNesler, I think you really have a gift for choosing fabrics. Just beautiful!

joe's mom, try putting your sample blocks together and take a picture of them to see how well they play together. If the yellow really jumps out at you, you might want to make a change.
Jan Marie, lucky you to have such a supportive hubby. I can't wait to see how it turns out.
I was supposed to have today off but someone called in sick so my DD got called in to work. That means I get to babysit my DGD. Hubby said he could come home for a bit so I can go to the grocery store without lugging her with me. But there won't be any sewing happening today. Just playing with toys all day! We are really into giraffes and doggies at the moment.

Wow! What a beautiful "guess"!

This block would make a beautiful quilt on its own.

So, am I totally off my rocker? First photo shows my clue #1 blues and pinks with the yellow; I feel as though I have to fight to look at anything but the yellow. I have a few golds on order. Until then, I find this second photo quiet gold very pleasant to look at. If something else doesn't turn up, I'm thinking I would be comfortable with this. Thoughts/comments?
