Just my luck ....

I had chosen to "swirl" the seams of the units from clue #1.

I just finished the blocks from Clue #3, where she did give directions to swirl them in a specific direction.

After I finished, I wondered ... will the Clue #3 units nest with the Clue #1 units?

No. Why oh why didn't I check the first unit to see if it matched???

Ugh!

I guess I can only hope that the clue #3 units don't butt up to the clue #1 units. If they do ... well I guess I'll just open the seams on the clue #3 units. I am NOT re-sewing them.

Feeling caught up even though I still have clue #4 to do. I have 5 days to sew a few 4 patch units ... no worries!!

What a great gift it was to have this weeks clue be simple and quick! All along as I've been working on this one I've been hoping we'd have some "string" blocks as in the first Bonnie mystery I did - Orca Bay. Since we are almost done, I'm thinking that won't happen - - - maybe next year! These are my blocks for this clue, all done till next Friday!

Oh, I am catching up! Got a whole day yesterday to sew and am now ready for Clue 5!!!!
But I still have to press Clues 3 and 4. And spackle and paint the new drywall we put up in the bathroom we are building in our basement... oh dear.... lol

I'm not feeling so bad about being behind. I got clue #5 done yesterday and have a good start on the other 4. After the grandkids leave and we get back home from a couples retreat January 5th, I hope to work on those. Will have to wait on posting pictures until then.
All the blocks are looking colorful. It's funny to even see some of my fabrics in the blocks of others.

Whitepine, I am glad you said that because I have been feeling exactly the same way. I am a left-hander and I often tend to be a bit dyslexic about fabrics being right side down or up, and position of a piece in a block, (paper piecing is a big challenge for me!) and this required a huge amount of check-and-recheck. I felt like I had to memorize everything, or look at the diagram every time I put together a block.

I am having second thoughts about the aqua.

If this quilt is the colors of the pictures she keeps showing us of different areas of the hotel, I don't see anything really kick-butt aqua- on my computer the ceilings look like a very pale pastel green.
The pinks, greens, black, neutrals, and the yellow all work for me, with the yellow being the 'pop'. But the aqua just doesn't feel like it belongs. It's a 'sixth wheel' in the interior design.

Therefore, Bonnie must have some devious plan which will make it all work beautifully. Too late to turn back now...Hundreds of aqua triangles are piled up!

Dying of curiosity, still no idea how it will play out but love looking at people's guesses!

Whitepine: Right there with you on the spatial challenge thing. I was born left handed into an era that left handed was considered a disadvantage. My mother changed me to a righty. I swear its like doing everything in a mirror. I actually draw it out and literally put my finger on the square to make sure I'm positioning them correctly. The only real question is why would I take up quilting considering this problem?

I'm guessing Bonnie chose a darker aqua for the quilt (than the ceilings in the Hotel) to balance with the other strong colors. The aqua is my favorite part. It's the yellow giving me trouble, LOL. I'm still assessing various yellows and have yet to make a final choice. I should have them all in hand by the beginning of next week.

Are there eight clues total, including the reveal?

I am so enjoying the MQ, thank you Bonnie and all of you QB supporters. Although I have been quilting for 10 years the thing I really love about quilting, besides the friendship is the fact that every quilt is a different challenge and that you never EVER stop learning. On the MQ I have really learnt a lot, not just about quilting but about myself, I thought as I went along with doing so many of the clues I would get bored and a bit tardy, completely the opposite, I am loving every part of it and am getting so critical and particular about my work that even in the past few weeks my piecing has progressed to a really good standard, which has quite surprised me as I thought I was OK to begin with, but not with Bonnie's blocks, no forgiving there they have to be exact.

I was going to just do a sampler 1/4 size one, then went to half size but now it's going to be 3/4, my bed and washing machine couldn't handle a full Bonnie size

I have learnt that the tip I found here earlier in the year about using starch has really paid off, I don't think I could have got the results that I have without it, my best quilting notion friend has been my clover finger presser, my fussy pressing and a SHARP rotary blade With what I have learnt and the care and attention that I have given this quilt it will never be given away, no matter how it turns out, this one is for me!
