Liz92B - welcome. Sounds like a worthy cause for a quilt. Northcott is sponsoring the Canadian Quilts of Valour, aren't they? I pre-ordered a bit of each of the Oh Canada fabrics today and am looking forward to them, especially the moose.

I've enjoyed followin' along with all of ya'll on this challenge. I 'm not joining on this one but have loved watching your progress. I've way over extended myself. Thanks for all of the info on ya'll's techniques.

Muv, I have to say that I am lost in your order/method of work. Do you stitch the buttonhole work from the front & then post pictures from the paper back side or ??? sorry to be so dense about it.

Well Well! Now hasn't this been a chatty thread today!
I'll try to catch up on the goins' on!
Muv ... love your spirit! Switch from the quilt to the wall hanging ... and to match too! Really like the look of your blanket stitch around the applique work. To me, it makes it so old fashioned looking, which I love. And the yellow/gold fabrics are such lovely shades for it too.
W4Me ... yea for you and your x-stitch progress! And congratulations for helping the economy with your Oh Canada! pre-order. I'm going to take my chances that I'll find it here. I'm pretty sure my LQS is ordering the red and white leaf prints. Other than that, not likely. You'll have to get a pic of your friend modelling her Canada Day shorts .... or you wearing them and she can take the pic!
TBug ... I never use them either! Bought them one time as a "pattern". I think I'd be too clumsy with them and would end up setting my wine glass down and tipping it over instead. Cute things ... maybe not the most practical!
LinC ... Muv's suggestion was really good, wasn't it? I've only done a wee bit of applique, and did the handle of baskets the same way, except did not machine stitch it directly to the background fabric. Muv's technique would sure help us get it in the "right"place, and minimize the pins when hand sewing. Look forward to seeing your C'ford acquisitions. Pardon my confusion ... are you combining the Underground RR with this challenge? or is it two different projects? And please do tell, what the latest and greatest is in C'ford!
DublB ... I'm with W4Me and am nudging you to do "something". Even something tiny and small. Pot Holders? Mug rugs? After all, I do know you have a stash of fabric that's most appropriate!

Tea? .... Do we have more tea drinkers here, other than LinC, Muv and Moi? Yes, I do drink LOTS Of it!!! and lots of different flavours/kinds! My latest are the David's Teas, which I make up in my bodum travel mug. Works perfect!!!!! Right now, I'm enjoying "Amaretto" ..... mmmmmmm!!!!!!

Your right I've got the fabric for it. But you already know how far behind I am.Oh yes I love tea. About 6-10 cups a day. Most of the time I just use Lypton. I like Chai also. I've been thinkin' about trying some loose leaf recently.

Tea.... I'm a bit of an Earl Grey girl myself, occasionally lapsang suchong, apart from the standard tea bags.
Dublb - Wonderful, a Texan tea drinker! Leaf tea is a great ritual, and an excuse for a nice teapot and tea cosy. Patriotic tea cosy?
Thimblebug - The pictures don't really explain how I'm doing it. It's applique where cutting the material is the last thing you do. The daffodil outline is on the paper stencil, it is laid on top of the yellow, with the background material underneath. Then I sew along the lines, remove the paper, and only trim along the edges of the flower shape when I get there with the blanket stitch. This prevents fraying before I am ready to sew it. The applique is anchored in with the machine and hand stitching, and the blanket stitch covers the raw edge. There again, on the picture where I show work on the rose, the paper is on the back and I'm adding stitched detail... All will be revealed eventually, quilt and methods, but in the meantime I really need you ladies to cheer me on because it is going to be weeks and weeks yet...
QuiltE - Glad you spotted the old fashioned look! I'm using a 1927 Singer 99K hand machine, so perhaps the look was slightly inevitable!
