OK, so this is just my 2 cents, not trying to ruffle feathers...
Would any of the Mom's (or Dad's!) be willing to adopt more than one Newbie? (seems like there are more who want to be adopted than there are those that want to adopt?)
Also, for those with strengths in one area and inexperience in another, maybe there could be more of a "Sister" relationship? With another quilter who has the opposite strengths and inexperience?
They could be the "Mom" on one subject, but the "Daughter" on the other.....
Anyways.... just my thoughts!
Thanks!
~Heather

OK, I've lost track of who needs a mom. I'm not an extremely experienced quilter, but am willing to help teach. I don't hand quilt, and can PP, but it isn't my favorite. If anyone would like a grandmother, give me a shout.

I am a newbie and would like to learn new things. I started about a year ago by taking a class at Joanns and I am now hooked. Here is the first quilt I made in that class. I am the maker of the African quilt you have seen on here. I am still thinking on the back so it is not done yet.

notice the same 2 bolcks next to each other.

I'm available for adoption. I grew up watching master quilters at work (my grandmother Sadie and my mother) and was too busy with music lessons to be bothered. I pieced and hand quilted my first quilts 18 months ago. I'm pretty good with embroidery but I want to learn applique (needle turn?) (not on the machine) and then make a work of art for my bedroom. My wedding quilts were made for a double bed and we've graduated finally to a king.

I could really use a mom cause first of all i lost mine 7 years ago and she was an award winning quilter, and second of all I really need the help as I have only made one quilt so far. I can hand embroider but have never paper pieced or appliqued and would love to learn. I would also love to learn how to pick fabrics that go together, my combinations are not so good. I started a BOM and have 4 blocks here to make but the first one did not go so well It is a HST block and none i repeat none of my points met it was a disaster. I ordered more fabrics from the site and cut them out again, but now afraid to try it again. I am ready to pitch it in the trash but still have until October to go so will wait and then try to sell it as a package to someone. Help!!!! Need a mommy soon.

Hi everybody,
I'd love to help! brand new, relatively new, people 'in the middle' - If I don't have an answer to your question, I'll find the answer. As a note to 'QuiltingGrannie' - most of the time, I prefer to free motion with my feed dogs up. It's probably technically incorrect to do it that way, but I feel that I have much more control over what I'm doing with them up.
don't abandon the idea of fm just because you can't adjust the the feed dogs. Send me an email and we can discuss it further if you'd like.

HI All, I am so excited..I have three daughters now! Deedles, Daisyboo9, and Sunnydays. I actually received pm's from all of these ladies and I have written back..I think I am still waiting to hear back from one of them to make sure she is happy with being a triplet? I think I can handle all three... I help more than three people in a day at my work...and it is truly a joy to share what I know with anyone and everyone..so thanks Girls for all the confidence and wanting me for your quilting MAMA!
