Getting ready to sew the middle blocks together so that I can figure out if the HST blocks are approx the right size. Wish me luck.

Ok I have a big question here. I have read thru this but still not sure if what I started months ago before this was available will work. So hope some of you experienced QAYGers can tell me if I'm on the right track or not.

I am trying black fleece as dual purpose backing/batting and thinking of using black flannel as my narrow strips on the back side. My dilemma is that I want to use wider sashing with cornerstones on the top side. An idea I had (which I don't know whether will work or not) is to do my SID quilting with three sides of the sashing and cornerstones already on the block, then stitch the unsashed edge to the sashed edge of the adjoining block and somehow cover the resulting seam with the flannel sashing strip on the back. Would have to trim fleece very close to seam line. But I'm wondering if that won't still end up being lumpy.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way to make this work or am I way out in left field?

Thanks in advance!

Didn't have much time to work on my 'Happy Accident' quilt this weekend, but you can see on the left hand side where I am headed with this quilt. My daughter, Heather, loves it and that is all that counts.

A little more progress on Heathers quilt. Still making adjustments as I go.
