Good luck avoiding the florals! I thought I missed out on the White on White from Connecting Threads' Rhapsody of Reds collection. They were sold out, but I checked back and they had restocked. So I ordered some. Enough for one specific quilt. Well, maybe just a tiny bit more, just in case. It arrived today and is really nice. It doesn't have that rubbery feel of some of the WOW's I've gotten in the past. I had hoped to get thru a whole month without a fabric purchase of any kind, but compared with my shopping habits last year, I'm really doing well. I now have my next 3 quilts planned and all the fabrics selected, so that ought to keep me for a while! i'm a pretty slow piecer.

I have that pattern, Irish Rose. It is currently laying on my dining room table. If you need specifics, I would be glad to help you out.

I have resisted buying any fabric "just cause". I did buy a yard and a half of some flannel to add to the three yards I already had to use as a backing on an UFO. I was glad I did because the teen girl I gave it to loved it.

I am also helping my destashing along. I just gave my sister some fabric, some blocks from a long ago on line exchange and orphan blocks that I had for her to practice with. She was happy and I was glad to see them go - along with a stack of magazines, some old June Taylor squares and a QIAD book I had a duplicate of.

I faltered just a smidgeon ;). I have been searching for a certain fabric from the Moda Ruby collection. It was one of the popular prints and most places are sold out or want $11+ per yard plus shipping. I stumbled across a shop while doing the FabShop Hop and they had it in stock for $6.99/yard with a flat rate of $5 for shipping!!! I needed it for backing for a quilt for me so I ordered enough to do the backing plus 2 extra yards. So, I adhered to the rules of only buying backing for a quilt in progress but then pushed the envelope ordering the extra 2 yards. Oh, well. I have been on this fabric diet since July 2012 and have only added 2 fat quarter bundles to my stash since then. I think I will be okay!!!!

Sounds like lots of success stories on here! I also have been on more or less a fabric moratorium for about a year. Still buy some when it catches my eye, but mostly in only one or two yard lengths instead of the whole bolt, unless of course it is extra special &/or there isn't much left on the bolt. Discovered DD is a bad influence though. She insisted I get all they had of the blue and purple background with white butterflies. Guess that means I have to make her another quilt. LOL! Besides the pajama pants she wants. I'm trying to get her started doing her own with the machine I got her for her birthday, but so far no luck.

I was successful last night, but I'm still wishing I had caved. I ordered batting from Connecting Threads and looked at the white fabric in the Rhapsody in Red line. It is very pretty and I don't have much white. But then, do I use much white? I only ordered batting. I didn't try to get to $50 and was surprised how reasonable the shipping was.

Well, I have been priding myself on my restraint so far. Last week, I had to buy a yard for a jeans bag for a customer. I stuck to it, and only got that yard, but then remembered I needed backing and border fabric to finish my McKenna Ryan quilt, so I bought only what I needed, and nothing else. Then, I just got an order for two jeans bags with themes I DON'T have in my stash, so, with resolve, I ventured out to find them, after shopping on-line and not finding anything that struck me. I found one at Joanns, the other at my LQS, and since I only needed a yard of each, THAT IS ALL I BOUGHT!! I must say, though, if it wasn't for DH waiting in the car for me, I think I would have been in trouble, especially, at the LQS! There was a whole bookcase of gorgeous blenders and prints on sale for $5-6.00 a yard. Unfortunately, the yard I got was not on sale and ended up paying $12.00 for it, but it is perfect for what I wanted. Now, checking through my stash of jeans, I didn't have a pair that suited (wanted brown denim), so off to look for a pair at the two second hand shops in town. Still didn't find brown, but ended up with a black pair that will be perfect, with light brown stitching and embroidery on the pockets. Anyway, I also walked out with 5 other pairs!!! Does that count as fabric??? I already have fabric I'll use for them. These will be added to my inventory of jeans bags for sale. Any leftover pieces of denim will go into my denim quilt, and I will be making I-Pad covers with them as well. I still feel I have been quite good, not buying just to add to my stash!!!

Jill, you have indeed been tempted by so many trips into fabric stores, but you held firm!!! Good for you!

Hope you will have a good time when you visit your son in Austin!! Suggestion: go to garage & estate sales then. During spring time there are gillions.... Also try thrift stores. I made a resolve 2 yrs ago not to buy any more fabric (this made more strict with $ going up). My stash/s are sufficient until the Lord calls me home. Don't know what my 2 kids will do with it all but I'll have to give them directions...
