You two should meet up!

OK, I bought fabric today, but I didn't exactly fall of the wagon! I went to Joann's because I was down to 2 strips x WOF of what I'm using for a swap. Dang it, my calculations said I had enough! Well, I was so happy that they still had some that I bought their last 2 yards, 1 at half price for end of the bolt. I'll have probably 2/3 of that left over, but I know I'll have coordinating fabric leftover too, so it won't be stashed. If I have the time, I may use some of it for throw pillow covers to match, since it's for a living room project.

I told the lady at the cutting table I was getting out cheap today, as that was the only fabric I drove 45 minutes away to buy (I was going near there anyway though). Her reply was "that's just wrong." I did buy tracing paper and a wheel, and a table runner book though, and more black and monofiliment thread. I still spent $45 even after my two 40% off coupons. I think I did well though. I saw some gorgeous batik jelly rolls that were calling my name, but I left them there!

I have been very good and stayed out of the fabric stores. Even though I got gift cards and there is sales going on like crazy. Have made a baby quilt and some receiving blankets out of my stash. Also, some slobber rags which is fun.

Just finished reading this thread from start to finish. Enjoyed reading about your triumphs. Honestly thought I had already joined. No fabric purchases since the end of November. Plus I have completed two UFO's this year. Well so much for good intentions, CT trapped me with their sale. So basically I actually joined just to say I fell of the wagon. Can I still play with you guys?

Sure, the more the merrier! I started this thread thinking that it would give myself the added push to stop unnecessary fabric shopping completely, but I've fallen off the wagon EVERY month so far. How embarrassing is that! But when I compare it with my impulse (stash) purchases the last couple years, I'm doing very well indeed. My big problem was on line shopping, but I've been deleting emails without opening them and that's helped a lot.

Oh Paper Princess, I read that you stopped your e-mail notifications. Your a brave, brave woman. Just can't give them up. If I can go another 3.5 months without buying fabric I will call it good.

I can gladly say that I have used some of my stash up. I am doing a side swap of twelve blocks, and I cut them all up yesterday. THen I just could not stop there, I had to cut myself up about 9 more blocks for a quilt. Yep, all from my stash. I feel a bit accomplished. Then I did finish that bronco quilt. I had to buy a little more blue to get the sashing completed, but top all done. Posted a photo in the UFO 2013 sister thread. Now working on that stack of fabric from the mystery quilt I started at the beginning of the year from the fat quarter bundle that has been in my stash for 7 years. Pretty fabric. I will have some scraps from it that will make some nice squares to make something else. But it is looking good. I may use the scraps for the border depending on how much is left. Will see. I could also cut them into strips to do the binding so I can get it all gone. WOrking the ideas here.

I had a bag of scraps that I inherited from a dear friend who died December 2011 from a brain tumor. She left me her entire stash which is why I am on a fabric moratorium! The other day I picked up this bag which I have moved from place to place and decided to do something with it. Looked inside and there were hundreds of cut triangles, a light and dark one paired, right sides together, just begging to be sewn. Must have been corners cut off of snowball blocks or flying geese. So, away I went. Sewed 'em, trimmed 'em and ended up with lots of half square triangle blocks. Now what to do? Looked again in the bag and there were charms in coordinating colors. I like to think I finished this quilt for Julia - hopefully in the design she had in mind. And here's a "connection to the other world" thing. ONE of the blocks had the star points reversed - green, not white as I had made every single other one. Now why would I make a mistake like that????? Pretty sure she was saying - no, I had planned green star points!!!! So, I left it that way and put it in the quilt.

Beautiful quilt Paulswalia!

Ok gang I must confess to having jumped head first off the wagon (again). However it is all fabric I know I will use so I don't feel too guilty about it. And I did leave a couple of gorgeous batiks sitting there as well as a really pretty flannel so I could have done worse.

I have been using up quite a bit of my stash and was needing a couple of specific fabrics. Just didn't stop at those two. . .
