newbie up for adoption (so to speak) I'm just starting. just starting sewing by machine as well. but really liked what I've seen of pieced quilts, so much more practical than many other types of sewing, at least to me. perhaps that's why my mom wasn't successful until now in getting me started. look forward to what i can learn.

Rhonda, have you adopted any one yet. I am still up for grab. My first pattern quilt was using your Boston block to make pinwheels. I am still trying to master squares, retangles and triangle, and getting the points right. I am sharing what I have learn with a group.

I would love to be adopted by someone. I have only been quitting a year and have no clue what I am doing especially with quitting. Would love someone who likes little kids and willing to help hands on especially. I am a very tactile/visual learner and can't sew a straight line to save my life. This board is very wonderful help and such a great resource.

Great idea. I so want to learn. I have taken a lot of classes but my cutting is so slow that I get lost in the group :) I am left handed and that seems to be a problem for a lot of people to teach me things :)

Would love to be adopted, but do not know the acronyms listed in your comment. Apparently I could use help with both the acronyms and quilting. Have a variety of feet for sewing machine. How important is the proper foot?
Tension is not always good. Not sure why?
Straight lines and making cornets meet?
I will s tart slow with questions if you have the patience to help me.

I guess I'm considered a newbie, I can only grid quilt or tie off. Have tried to free motion and I totally suck at it and am NOT comfortable doing it because I feel if I work hard on a nice quilt I don't wanna mess it up using free motion and degrade the quilt. Hand quilting is not for me either as I am NOT a patient person! I can only dream of a long arm. Still so much to learn! I just learned something new yesterday on YouTube!

Well, I haven't managed to piece a block the proper size yet. I could use a teacher too. I have cheated on my two quilts I have made. Cut my blocks the size I want from the print I want and sew them together. As for binding I cheat on that too and would really love to learn how. But will continue to cheat if I must. I use my backing instead of binding. And well that is just starters.

I can help with machine piecing of most sorts, I love hand work, such as applique, embroidery, hand quilting. Love the design process, rarely follow a pattern exactly, and love to choose my own fabrics and colors. Can't help too much with machine quilting, or machine applique. If it sounds like I could be a good "mom" for you, let me know!

Ditto what roselady said. I'm available if someone needs some help. I've been quilting for approx. 30 years; machine piecing, starting to get back into hand quilting. I don't do FM quilting so can't help there. I love to figure out patterns and I think I have a good eye for color. I owned a quilt shop for approx. 5 years. What an experience!! (checking that off my bucket list. . . )

Amma - - - I need help with paper piecing!!! Would you help me???

Jane
