Can't wait to see the response!!

cjomomma 06-08-2011 08:11 AM

Oh wow! I wish I had time to do it. Hopefully this goes over well so I can enter the next one.

granky 06-08-2011 08:32 AM

Sounds like fun! Hope there are more contests coming! Not time for this one...with all that is going on right now. Will wait for the next one...maybe give a bit more warning?

Rhonda 06-08-2011 08:37 AM

Well I was thinking of quilts already made but I can change the time frame if that would help. I wasn't really thinking of making up new quilts. I guess I should have. This is my first time doing this of course so I will learn as I go!!

cjomomma 06-08-2011 09:33 AM

Rhonda that's ok. My problem is everyone has seen all of my quilts. LOL!! I will just prepare for the next round.

That's my problem too.
This sounds like some good fun and to see what the other contestants have made.

Rhonda can you extend the deadline for making the new quilt entry?

cctx. 06-08-2011 09:44 AM

The size is a question, what specifics on the size for the lap.
And it has to be finished (quilted with binding) ?

cctx. 06-08-2011 09:44 AM

I'm already excited....!

Rhonda 06-08-2011 10:04 AM

Yep you all caught me in my weakest part! I don't make big quilts! LOL But I have already discussed it with Patrice and she is going to change the dates for me. I will allow a month so where it says June just substitute July until Patrice gets it changed!

I do apologize for not thinking this through! But I am glad to have feedback cause that is how I learn!! I am a trial and error gal and don't have a problem with someone pointing things out that should be changed.

Thanks so much everyone!! So now you can go plan what you want to make to enter!!

np3 06-08-2011 10:10 AM

Thanks for changing the date! This sounds like fun!

Rhonda 06-08-2011 10:27 AM

I will add this by Patrice: Width must be between 36" to 48" and length can be from 36" to 60". Does this sound ok? I searched on line and this is the general idea of what I read.

np3 06-08-2011 10:31 AM

Looks reasonable to me. I am spending some time trying to make sure that I don't have any copyright rules to worry about. Traditional quilting is my favorite, but harder to make your own sometimes.

cctx. 06-08-2011 10:49 AM

Sounds good to me, thanks for the new feedback.
And time for me to get busy this coming weekend.

Rhonda 06-08-2011 11:02 AM

Make sure you check back so you can see the changes Patrice makes to the times and the sizes.

CarrieAnne 06-08-2011 11:23 AM

Fun!

LAB55 06-08-2011 12:38 PM

I will have to wait & see if there is a next one.
The date change would be fine, but I have no where to sew at the moment. I am finishinf one of my sewing rooms & half of that room is in the other right now. It will be fun & can everyone vote even if they don't have an entry ?
Will be watching. :-D

You can do a smaller one rather than a large lap size. It is all up to you. You just have to keep your entry a secret til after the results are posted.

sandpat 06-08-2011 05:33 PM

Oh...sounds really interesting Rhonda...I'll have to think about it! Of course I would have to make a whole new quilt.......it will be fun to watch and vote even if I can't get one made though!

ksea 06-08-2011 06:08 PM

Do we vote just once?

Me too! I can't wait to see what people make!

candi 06-08-2011 06:30 PM

Sounds very interesting. It'll be fun to see the response.

Let's see, do I have any quilts that I haven't showed you? Nope, with the exception of the one I quilted recently and not happy with the quilting...I am planning on taking some stitches out and redoing...maybe I'll finish that one before the deadline...although it is not all that, but it'll be fun!

lindy-2 06-08-2011 07:00 PM

do the quilts have to be totaly finished or are tops ok?

Rhonda 06-08-2011 07:28 PM

I think tops would be ok but not having it quilted may affect the votes.

lindyline 06-09-2011 12:00 AM

Hmm this sounds interesting.

Kyiav10 06-09-2011 01:08 AM

I have one that is ready to be quilted but I will have to wait for the next one. Since I hand quilt I will not be able to get it done even before August I fear. Maybe, August but only after I finish the one I am working on.

Can't wait to see them!

Kyia

Wendys Quilts 06-09-2011 01:36 AM

Me, too (or, either)! Not nearly enough time if you hand quilt...
Wait, I'm out anyway as I don't do anything smaller than queen size. lol. Oh well.

CompulsiveQuilter 06-09-2011 03:31 AM

Rhonda,
I have posted a picture of the top before the borders, but just yesterday I put on the binding - does this count as "not shown"? Also I'm a little confused by the copyright rules - is giving credit enough? If not, what would I check for, besides the little R sign on the site where I found the pattern? Please PM me with your answers ...

As a suggestion ... our local fairs classify the quilts according to outside dimensions, so in your case minimum 144" maximum 216" would be the size requirements. Somehow, it makes it more clear, and less room for debate!

Patrice decided to just let each quilter decide for themselves. As long as it isn't a twin size I am fine with that.

My understanding is if the site you found the pattern does not limit the use of the pattern all you need to do is give credit to the site and the owner of the pattern. If the site or owner requires the use to be personal only then you are safe to just credit. If they restrict it then you would need to ask permission to use it or find another pattern.

If you have posted a pic of the top then it doesn not qualify for this contest. It has to be anonymous.

Hhmmm... if this contest will end the end of July then the next deadline to enter would be Aug 15th. So maybe you will be ready by then?
