I make mine 36x36 to 40x40. Some people may be more spread out than others. I lay the top across my legs while sitting. I'm a little over weight so I judge the drop on each side by that and the length should at least reach my feet.

I have good news and bad news. Bad news is that I purchased four yards of fabric. Good news is that I used two yards of that plus another 3 yards of what I have on hand to finish up a custom quilt for someone. I also finished the Hawaiin bargello which took 6 yards, finished a scrappy Buggy Barn quilt - 7 yards, finished up a sewing machine applique quilt - 5 yards, finished up a bird wallhanging that was left from a swap - 1.5 yards, and working on one more UFO of embroidered ladies which will only burn 1 yard of stash. Then if I get real good, will get four more done for the month.

Great work, quiltermomma!!

I've been sewing Boomerang Swap blocks together into quilt tops (a couple for gifts) and a couple for charity!!

I also made and completed two Baby quilts for two great nieces (1 born in Sept and 1 to be born in early December). All fabrics used in these quilts are from my "stash!!" I'll take some pictures and try to post soon.

Two weeks without a post??? C'mon, ladies... how's the stash-busting going?

I am *still* working on the hand quilting for the kingsize quilt. WHAT WAS I THINKING? The body is done (well, it is because I decided to simplify the quilting); now have to do the borders. I really worry I won't have it done in time for Christmas, so I'm not allowing myself to even go INTO my sewing room (because that's where that distracting stash is!)

That said, I did take a break a couple weekends ago to work on a new, stash-based top for my sister. This is Helene Knott's "Let Sleeping Cats Lie" pattern. I don't typically work from patterns, but I thought I better not try to do this one without it. It's for my sister who has lost a couple of her own dear inspectors this last year. She lives in the southwest. With one exception, I haven't appliqued the heads on yet, and then there will be appliqued mice at the intersections of each square.

Oh, Jillaine, that is such a nice quilt. I have seen it, but was not interested enough to tackle it. Good luck with it and please let us see the end. Finished 3 quilts and already gave them away - don't think I got a good picture of any of them - what was I thinking?? I have been as busy as my broken arm will allow. I have a friend who is doing my cutting and I can sew them on the machine, then another friend is doing my quilting for me and I finish them with the hand work on the bindings. I'm very slow, but some of the holiday presents are actually finished and ready to be wrapped and mailed. Photos to follow, I promise.

Vanogay, Let's hope your doctor doesn't read the Quilting Board! S/He'd be upset about how much you're using that broken arm! Ouch! (How'd you break it?) When does it come off?

The pattern above is actually really simple. And can be even simpler if you choose just two colors (I chose something like six). The hardest part is figuring out where you want which colors to go. But you definitely want the pattern because of the precise measurements you need to make to cut the squares and triangles.

Neat work jillaine. I am working, but not from the stash at moment, just on ornaments and things for the craft show. I am getting on track now and will be working form the stash. have a good one.

jillaine, the arm is not even in a cast. Wore a sling for about 4 weeks - day and night. I broke the arm right at the shoulder - where it couldn't be cast. Was out on one of my mile walks, tripped, and fell with my dominant hand out in front of me to break the fall. Well, the fall was broken, all right, but so was the arm. I've been in PT since about week 3 post-break and can finally lift my arm to the table. It's amazing how quickly those muscles forget how to lift. At PT yesterday, I'm laying on my back, he gave me a stick - both arms are bent up in the air and I hold stick and try for the life of me, I'm trying to push that stick up in the air - and can't. That's my next exercise to win - back to PT in about 30 minutes and another try. By golly, I AM going to lift that stupid stick!!!!!!!
