It feels like your feet are on fire and burn and tingle painfully. I was going to do just a simple meander and ended up doing detail. Just could not rush thru it. Messed up my day for getting things done, but oh well, goes for a good cause.

These blocks came from all over the world or at least US. They are from the Boom 6 swap I did last year. Was going to do for BIL, but used the others I had for his and these were left over so put them together and this is what I got. Sure, the photos did not turn correctly, sorry. The back is a red/black leaf. Much more masculine then the color washed photo. But pay note to the designs I did in each block. Was playing with the Circle Lord that came with my longarm.
QM...I just can't believe how much you get done!

I think this quilt is beautiful.
I like all the wonderful blocks and your quilting is great.
And the sashing color is a perfect fit.
    Good job.

    Hi again.
Guess everyone is off doing summer outdoor chores...... or else getting UFOs turned into FOs!

This is my next project. I have all the blocks done but am having trouble choosing a sashing color.
I posted in a separate thread looking for ideas and most people thought black.
Several people suggested taking some blocks to the store and auditioning a variety of fabrics and I think that is a good idea.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Ranger, do you know what feel you are wanting on the quilt? If you go with a lighter color it will brighten up that green and show off the white in the black squares. For the sashing, also depending if you are setting on point or up and down, a light green shade might be cool, if you go black, which is good also, I would stick with a moddled one. Or you can put in corner stones and continue your black squares there and that way you can show the diagonal of the squares making it appear like a chain since most fo the blocks have that fabric on the corners. White is not a good option at all. this is only my opinion we all see color differently. Come to think of it, you could always pick a darker to medium gray. that might look good. So when you go shopping, check out the gray section. So many times it is just the right stepping stone we need to make things look good. I am no expert by any means I just like to try things to see if it would work. As well, you could try it up against a deep dark blue to see if that works. Just suggestions for ya.

Ranger, I'd agree with taking blocks to the store to audition fabrics. I love your colors & tend to pick bright colors. You might hold them up to something like a pick or peacock blue & be surprised. Bet you could find a batik that would work too.

Ranger, I love your blocks without sashing, they play so well off one another!

I believe UFOs are like scraps, ferns and dust bunnies. Once you get two, they send spores out into the air and more just happen anywhere the spores meet.

I am having trouble finding the paper she wrote them on. It is at home in the garage. i will work on finding it. I kind of just look at it once in awhile to remind myself to stay on track. I actually just look in the cupboards and drawers and then I go which one today. They are dwindling and the scraps are building, but making good headway. A little slow at moment, but this weekend I am hoping to get much done. I did finish up two of the three patriotic quilts that needed to be done. I am going to finish the third tonight and quilt them tomorrow after the five customer quilts I need to get done. Will be sweating out in the garage in the 90 degree weather, but at least I am not freezing. The neighbor calls my garage the sweat shop, it is in the summer. Then I want to finish up a couple of swaps on Sunday if possible. Weeds are pulled, garden watered, just have to spray the plants with vitamins and should be done with yard work. Life is good. If you go to the link, you will see where I started at http://myquiltplace.com/photo/photo/...tions=&page=10 (LOL)

Once again QuilterMomma you are a great inspiration to all of us!

Here is a question I would like to post....looking for opinions. I am entering my "Canning Jar Quilt" into the County Fair. In looking at the registration form I must pick a category for it. They are: 1. Novelty, 2. Original, or 3. Pieced. I'm not sure what the "Novelty" category would be? Anyone know? Or, would it be considered an "Original"? I had seen a canning jar quilt a few years back, BUT I did not have a pattern, I drafted mine from memory and the outer border was my idea; a way to use up the left over scraps of fabric. So, what do you think, I really need help with this. I have been quilting for years, but I don't usually enter contests. My grandkids who are 4H'ers (they raise hogs and dairy goats) have talked me into entering the quilt and a baking and cooking contest......we've really had a lot of fun testing recipes. Well to get back on topic.....I have attached a photo of the quilt as a reminder of what it looks like.Name: Mason Jar Quilt 011.jpg

Size: 585.2 KBNan, I'm sorry I can't help you with a catagory. But I love your quilt. The quilt group I belong to was going to do one years ago, but never did. I have lots of fabric, but that's as far as it has gone. Now you have given me some inspiration. What size are your jars?

I to have been quilting. I finished 2 UFO's within the last 2 weeks. Both of these have been in the works for years. First one is "Santa's Galore" and it is going to a SIL in MI in a couple weeks. The second one is a scrappy that will be going to the Ronald McDonald House. Feels good to get them done.

Everose, I have given the quilt to my daughter, so I do not have it here right now, but if I remember correctly, the white background measures 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" finished, the black sashing was a 1" finished piece. And I do remember that the small border blocks were 2" finished. I just played with a drawing until I got the look I wanted in the jars.

Santa's Getting Ready for Christmas. Are you?

Lots of firsts with this small piece:

My first completed (start to finish) project.
I just learned how to use the machine embroidery function on my machine last week (I bought the machine new in 2004). Santa is machine embroidered.
    My first mini project. 10" x 13"
I have been swapping postage stamps like crazy and thought an all batik PSQ would be amazing. The border is batik postage stamps.
The quilting is primitive. but I did it!

Santa's working on his quilt projects. Are you?
