Default UFO...waiting for borders

Hi Everyone! This might be the place to spark some motivation to get a few UFOs finished after all! First can I call boomerang blocks UFOs...it really doesn't matter I have just a handful to complete to finish up that swap. It's been fun, and quiltermomma...yours will be mailed to you soon!
Next I have to start and then complete a DQ that I have to make and then maybe another round on a IRR swap. (the original center went missing and we are doing a "you gotta' come out of this swap with a quilt" thing....then (must I?) put borders on two of my favorite WIP or UFOs! Not to mention putting the blocks together for a Barn Chicks Quilt from the Buggy Barn! Those are only the most current UFO's...I have an old trip around the world wrapped up in a gift box to go to some unsuspecting person SOMEWHERE! At any rate you are in my thoughts and prayers...LOL...Hope I live long enough to get some of these things done. It looks as tho I've stumbled on to the right place, tho! Happy Quilting!

I have set a goal of finishing all my UFOs this year( and I have many). Told my friend I can not join anymore blocks of the month till I finish all I have already began and not finished. I get the blocks done but don"t put the quilt tops together.

Here's how I get UFO's....
First I'm having trouble FMq my grandson's Solar System quilt. I had to frog stitch 2 blocks because of eyelashes on the back & too tiny stitches.
Then at 2 months I realized that DGS was growing so much faster than I expected! My DDIL was complaining about how all of his blankets were so small! I took several of 'em & sewed 'em together. Then I bought 6, 1 & 1/4yrd different pieces of fabric & hemmed 'em . (I'm known for these blankets but DDIL didn't know it.) She was so surprised at how wonderful they were.
In the mean time I'm still frog stitching.
Next, Christmas was coming & I realized that I hadn't finished my other DGK's B-day quilts, So I finished those in time for Christmas...
& then started frog stitching again. Boy do I hate those tiny stitches!
Then I see the PC & join that. 2 blocks a week shouldn't be to hard, & they aren't really.
My DS said that he really likes those blankets & that they have to wash 'em so often 'cause they are all that they use. So I ordered 6 more fabrics. They all came in & I have 'em prepared for hemming! One is hemmed.
I did finish all of that frog stitching yesterday; Yeah.
Just before Christmas I found out that my apprentice is pregnant. She's going to move to Austin to be closer to the Father of the Baby. She leaves Feb.3! I'm going to miss her. Yesterday she said that her family is giving her a going away party / baby shower, on Sat. I had planned on making her a quilt & some of those baby blankets that I make, later. I took her to the fabric store today & had her pick out several fabrics & said that I'd square up, & press the hems on one of each of these fabrics so she can sew 'em. That way we did 'em together! Then I'll make her quilt out of the rest of the fabric & it'll all match!
So instead of finishing my DDIL's blankets or FM quilting my DGS's quilt tonight I'm cutting more fabric!

Everyone's done and almost done projects were so fun to look at tonight. Keep up the good work and those bells will keep on ringing. I just love that thought. Thanks Linda!

I created my own templates of a fiddle, guitar, banjo, and mandolin and included that in the quilting. I will have to send the pics in 2 batches. Hope you like it.
Yah!! Way to go!
Clever idea to make your own instrument templates and use them in the quilting.
Great job.

Hi dressmakergurl.
What quilt is that you need the pattern name?

Hey Chigger, I would not worry about borders on that quilt. I like how it is. Not every quilt has to have a border. I would do the binding in the darker brown or red/pink of the flowers. That would set it nicely. If ya need borders for size, then I would follow up with a zinger in the red/pink and then a brown on the edge to frame with the binding the same as the outer border. I like that quilt. Very pretty so finish it so we can see how the quilting makes it shine so pretty. Well, I have now put borders on a swap block quilt from last year (chickens) so I can get it quilted and then the borders on the mystery quilt that was made out of the blocks that were in a bag and I just put them together. So now they are waiting to be quilted. SO if I get off here now, I should get all this done this weekend, right? I even have the binding ready to sew on them. Yes, I will use the machine to do the binding or I will send it out to trade with a person for quilting. I like to quilt, she likes to bind. Good trade.
