After a lot of research I have a 11 cup Cuisinart on back order from Macy's on sale for $ 179.00 The reviews are excellent. If you find what you want and take the time to read the customer reviews you can get all your questions answered.
Good Luck.

I don't have a food processor, but I love using my Salad Shooter for slicing and grating and shredding, etc. So fast, and not hard on the hands at all. It does take up space in the cupboard, but I do use it a lot, so it is worth it.

The Ninja is the best I haveevery had. I use the little one for onions, garlic, small stuff and have the full size for lots of slicing. Not the most expensive but it works great

I just bought one of these. Does veggies really well. The cheese got caught in the blade a little bit, but not worse than a hand grater. Make hash browns very nicely. http://compare.ebay.com/like/1110043...Types&var=sbar

I use to use a Cuisinart food processor all the time when my kids were home. Now I just buy the food already sliced, diced or shredded.

I have a mandolin and a food processor, both. I use my food processor much more than the mandolin. Like, I use the food processor 3-7 days a week, the mandolin maybe 4 times in the past year. I also have a Kitchen aid Pro mixer that I use almost as often as the food processor. I picked up the kitchen aid at maybe a 1/5 of the cost of regular cost by getting an open box(20% off) refurb (50% off) on senior discount day(15% off)! Found the food processor at a yard sale from a young gal who didn't know how to use it so she sold it for 10.00, and the mandolin for $1.oo at the thrift shop!!

I have worn out 2 food processers and am on my 3rd in 31 years of marriage. If you doing preserving they are a blessing when making relishes, salsas and such but mine have always been too bulky for every day use. I now own a mini one too for doing nuts and spices for baking etc. I need to check out the ninja based on what others are saying.

I bought a hand crank Mouli Julienne Rotary Slicer. They don't make them anymore, but you can get them on e-bay. It's orange, looks like an old spaceship. It has interchangeable cutting disks. I love it.
