Default Bread from bread machine Pics

This is from a post on Chit Chat. I let the bread machine mix a double batch of dough and do a first rising. I took the dough out and kneaded for about 5 min by hand and shaped into loaves. Let rise again and baked. This is a sweeter bread, great for rolls. It makes a fantastic toast. In one loaf I rolled it out to a rectangle and spread cinnamon sugar and rolled it up, formed a loaf shape, let rise and baked. Here is the recipe I used.

Basic White Bread
2 c. warm water (not over 115º)
1 T. yeast ( I use active dry)
2/3 c. white granulated sugar
1/4 c. oil
1-1/2 tsp. salt
5 – 6 cups flour

dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Put in bread machine and oil, flour, salt. Check machine to see if more flour is needed to knead in a smooth ball.
Bake at 350º for 25 – 30 minutes or until the top is brown and sounds hollow when thumped.

this is the bread after baking. This is the bread after second rising in pans. Hint: brush evaporated milk on top of the dough before baking and it will give a glossy finish.

Your bread looks good!! I used to get a cinnamon bread at Costco that was a white bread with a swirl layer of cinnamon sugar. I would make french toast out of it and cook it in my Foreman grill. Was really good. Never heard of brushing evaporated milk on top. Will have to try it. Guess I had better dust off the old bread machine.

I had the round butter keeper but it was too much trouble getting the cold stick of butter in it. LOL.

Both loaves are already eaten! DH devoured it and my DD with family in tow came over. We had warm bread and honey for dinner. I'm stuffed.

The only problem with this is that I would sit and eat all the loaves myself and then I would be big as a horse. Looks delish. I've gotten in the baking mode. I made scones yesterday to share with a neighbor. Thanks so much for the recipe and hint.

I usually bake all our breads. I think the better the ingredients the less weight gained or at least it's quality weight. I leave out 1/2 the sugar in most of the recipes though. I use King Arthur flour, organic eggs, aluminium free baking powder, Himalayan sea salt, safflower or expeller pressed coconut oil and distilled water. Even if we eat a lot of it, I know it's the ingredients are better for us. That's what I buy so nothing else to use but that.

Does anyone know what to do for mini loaves - amount of dough and cooking time?

Default Breads

Well, Even though I might be having a very hard time with my Breadman Breadmaker, I can make a decent loaf of bread. I tried this recipe today since my husband woke up at 4:30AM, I took it as an omen to bake some bread.
I must say that this dough was very silky and nice to work with. It raised nicely except was slow on the second rise...which might be to the chilliness of our house. It baked in 30 mins and I took your advice and made one loaf with Cinnamon/Sugar bread.
I did use all purpose flour and added Vital Wheat Gluten and some dry milk powder.
Thank you and will add this to my bread recipes.
Kirsten
I have pics but how do I upload them now?
