With no eggs or milk, I am thinking the first hit is what you are looking for.
*sigh* another trip down memory lane for me, as this was a baking day treat when we were kids!

Sounds like a WWII recipe that could be made without the precious eggs and milk.....sounds yummy!
Mistakes are just opportunities to invent a new quilting technique!

These look awesome. Just added them to my cookie list for Christmas. Love anything cinnamon.

I learned as a child this very simple recipe from my Mother ( a WWII wife) to take leftover pie crust pastry, roll out to a rectangle, spread soft butter over entire surface, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on top and blend into the butter with a table knife or spatula. Roll up the rectangular length and cut the roll into slices and bake in a 400 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until brown. If you want to make more 'cookies' than just the leftover dough, just make a regular batch of pie pastry and use that for your cookies. Kids of all ages love these flaky little cookies. Jinnie
