My Grammy used to make Roly Poly.. if i am even spelling it right... it is a dough you roll out like a big pie, sprinkle lots of sugar on it and spread blueberries on it, roll it up like a log, pinch it all closed, put it in a cheese cloth bag and tie it off and put in in boiling water and cook til it is done.. then let it set just a tad bit slice it like 1 1/2" to 2 inches think in a large soup bowl and pour milk or cream over it and more sugar if u like... that was our dinner! Oh man, I have to make it now!!! maybe next week.....

Sounds delightful! Some of the old "make do's" were so delicious. Grandmother used to take her left over pie dough and pat it out on a greased cookie sheet. Crimp an edge around on it, pour canned cream on it, sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, and dot it with butter. Baked until browned lightly. Take it out and let it sit for 5 or so min. It was flaky on the bottom and chewy on top. Yum! Mine is never quite as good but them I don't use leftover pastry,I make a whole batch just for this purpose. LOL

I sure would like the recipe (dough espcially) as my fraternal grandma used to make this, only she usede cherries. Not sure if they were fresh or the canned pie filling - too long ago to remember. She really didn't cook much that I remember but Cherry Roly Poly was something I do. Probably shouldn't have it at all with this darn diabetic thing but wouldn't mind trying maybe even a small one. Hope you (or someone) can come up with the dough recipe.

Thanks so much for that great rememberance!
