Default did you think the 3-2-1 cake was

a little weak in the flavor dept?

I mixed 2 Duncan Hines mixes together--angel food and spice cake. I mixed 3 T of mix with 2 T of water and baked it in the micro for 1 min. Very light and fluffy but I felt that the intensity of the spice cake was diluted by the angel food. Next time I will add some spices from the cupboard and maybe some chopped nuts.

I have not had the chance to try the cake at all, but hope to do so tomorrow. I am going to use the red velvet mix and the angel food. Hope it comes out good.

Haven't tried it, but what if you used applesauce as the water part to your spice cake? And maybe a dash of cinnamon?

I used a white cake mix with the angel food cake mix. Personally, I thought it was a waste of two cake mixes -- didn't like the texture at all.

The topping makes it, depending what you use. I used white cake mix and angel food, and I put Nutella on top -- yum!

Applesauce is a good idea.

I did make more samples later last night and I put extra cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger in them. They were better.
I wish I had some chopped pecans to add, but I didn't.

I think the best description of this cake is to say it is like a flavored angel food cake.

I just mixed up a bag. Used angel food and poppy seed.......Yummy. And my recipe calls for 3-3-1.....It works just fine. Before the poppy seed, I used a blueberry mix. Seems the "off cake" is what determines the taste....

I agree, I wasn't happy at all. Guess that's a good thing though.
