Default Different Jello

I am usually not a big fan of Jello, but this is really good and different! ....and even though it contains " red hots" candy, it is not hot.

Red Hots Jello

2/3 cup red hots candy
2 cups boiling water
2 cups applesauce
One six-ounce pkg red Jello (any flavor)

Stir the red hots in the boiling water until dissolved
Stir in the pkg of Jello until dissolved
Stir in applesauce
Chill until set

Yummy!

Looks interesting. My grandkids love Jello so I'm planning on trying this when they're here for Thanksgiving.
Thanks for the recipe

I'm going to give this one a try! I seem to think I had this once years ago at a potluck...but so long ago I'm not sure.

This sounds good!!

I have to admit, when I saw the post title I immediately thought of the 'cat food' jello from "Christmas Vacation".

this sounds so good. i want to make it for thanksgiving instead of cranbery salad ( my dad loves cranberry salad but due to medications can no longer eat it) thought this would be a good substitute. but i can't find the red hots anywhere???? someone said walmart carries them but i no longer shop at walmart.

Rag queen, I have had a hard time finding red hots this year too! None of our grocery stores have had them at all! I finally found them in the large Amish store in Walnut Creek, in the Amish area in Ohio. I haven't tried Walmart as I seldom go there any more either! In the Amish store they were called something different, "Cinnamon Imperials." But they are just like Red Hots. Good luck finding them!

Has anyone else had trouble find the red hots?
