Roly poly puds were always made with suet and either cooked in a "rag" with string attached to each end of the parcel---to enable a fork to be inserted under to get the hot pud from saucepan OR these can be put in a basin covered with grease proof paper ,pleated for expansion, and finally covered with sheeting, also with a pleat and string around top of basin , making a loop again to facilitate the getting out of bowl from boiling water in saucepan, this method does not get the suet part wet as the rag method does, and ALWAYS REMEMBER NEVER TO ALLOW PAN TO DRY OUT!!
If a recipe for suet pud is required am happy to print .

Good afternoon. My sister in law and I are searching for the recipe to the original German 'Roly Poly'. If any of you have that, we would greatly appreciate if you could send it to us. Our email address is located under our profile or if you could post it here. We both thank you in advance for any information you or anyone could provide us regarding finding the recipe.

Regards,
Vidia & Family.

My mom made her rolly Polly with a Bisquick dough. She made it as for biscuits just sprinkled the dough with sugar to her taste and added berries--usually blackberries! She just folded the dough up over the berries and baked. Then we would eat it for supper with milk poured over it.Oh,does that sound good! Thanks for the memories that you made me think of!
