take any basic muffin recipe and put 1/2 the sugar called for. then to the batter you could add whatever herbs you like. basil or rosemary, onion powder or even some shredded cheddar cheese.

Here is a recipe for:
Cheddar Cheese and Mustard Muffins

2 cups minus 2 Tbls sifted all purpose flour
1 Tbls baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1-1/2 cups finely shredded cheddar cheese
1 large egg
2 Tlbs Dijon mustard
1 cup sour cream (I use low-fat)
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup milk (add a bit more if necesary)

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and pepper in a large bowl. Add cheese, and blend well to combine ingredients well.
In a small bowl, beat together the egg and mustard. Add the sour cream, melted butter, and milk. Mix well . Fold the sour cream mixture gently into the flour mixture just until dry ingredients are moistened(do not over mix). Fill 12 greased muffin tins (or use paper liners). Bake 20-25 minutes or until done. Cool slightly. Serve warm.

I love muffins as well and would a recipe for blueberry muffins. Also how do you get your muffins not to be so dense and heavy?

To keep muffins from being dense and heavy, just stir the ingredients together until the batter is moist. There still will be some lumps in the batter but if you continue stirring that is the error that makes dense and heavy muffins.
