Swedish Fattigmand (Crullers)
6 egg yolks
1 TBSP sugar
1/4 cup cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
about 1 1/2 cups flour added a bit at a time to be able to roll out thin.
Beat eggs.
Add the rest of ingredients
Roll thin to about 1/8 inch thickness.
Cut into diamond shapes, slashing a hole down the center and pulling one corner through the slash.
Cook in hot (365˚F.) grease/fat/lard until brown.
Drain.
When cool, dust with powdered sugar.
NOTE: If you use a scalloped tracing wheel it gives a pretty edge to the cookies.
Var Så God. (Help yourself.)
Oh my goodness!!! I am going to have to try all of these.
Thank all of you so much. I have been dreaming of these cookies for over a month.
In Denmark, these are named "poor man's cookies"--and very good for everyone.
Would it be these:
