Lightbulb My "go to" dessert has a name? They call it a Galette?

I have been making a dessert that grandma showed me when I was twelve that she made homemade pie crust for. I now buy the ready-made pic crusts in the rolls. All I do is roll it out on a foil lined cookie sheet, put two cups of any fruit or fruit combo, with two tablespoons of cornstarch and about 1/2 cup (more or less depending on natural water volume of fruit) in a saucepan until thick, pour onto pie crust, fold crust up to cover edges, sprinkle with sugar, and bake as package directs. Now that I have described what it is, you can find recipes if you just google "galette". Who knew Grandma made fancy-schmancy deserts with fancy names. Lol! (Two cups of fruit makes one "galette") DH loves the one I make with raisins! (I use a cup of water for that one) yummy! I have used fresh, frozen, and dried fruit to make them. Enjoy! If you need help with this recipe, PM me.

That's funny, I just saw that on TV, the Food Network channel. I think the show was Pioneeer Woman and she called it a flat apple pie so the cowboys herding cattle could just grab a piece and go, no fork or plate needed. It did look good but I think I'd use a fork and plate.

my sister takes any kind of fruit, puts in a casserole dish (normal people would add sugar, lol) and mixes us a pancake batter to put over the top. Bake until done, always comes out good and couldn't be easier.

My older sister, who is a fabulous cook (makes yummy stuff out of nothing) uses flour tortillas instead of pie crust. She used canned pears or apples. Wonderful.
