Need Advice on Cooking Rice and Chicken in a Crockpot

I want to thank all of you that replied to this. I always learns o much from all of you. I have been through this with Missy before, about once a year-year and a half she gets this way. It was in the 70s here this weekend and that is the reason I asked about the crockpot. I usually do cook it on the stove but I live in a mobile home and all I have to do is turn the stove on and it heats up in here until it is almost unbearable.
My Missy does seem better today. I will play it by the day, we may still wind up at the vet. I knew dogs couldn't have grapes (she loves them too) I had no idea about onions though. She isn't picky about her eating and she loves chicken and rice. So far so good today.

I'm not sure about making it in a crockpot, but I made brown rice today in my old pressure cooker. It turned out tender and separated nicely (didn't clump together like it does for me when I fix on top of the stove.) You could just buy the instant rice too I would think.

When my fur babies get upset tummies (and my 7 pound toy poodle has a tendency to get it regularly,) I put 1 part rice and 2 parts water in pan. Add NO seasoning. Let water heat until boiling. Turn down to simmer, put a tight fitting lid on it, and simmer for 20 minutes without opening the lid. Perfect rice every time. Then I mix half rice and half cooked sweet potato (I use microwave for about 5-6 minutes) and feed it to her. She loves it. By the Way!, my Vet told me that eggs are one of the hardest foods for a dog to digest. Good luck with your fur baby. They are precious!!

I love my rice cooker from Tupperware. You cook in the microwave.

I do the chicken and rice on the stove top for my Tinkerbelle, the Chihuahua. I boil some chicken, take out the chicken when cooked to debone. Cook rice in the liquid from the chicken...putting the chicken back in when cut up.

Tink is over the moon when she has to get this dish because she isn't feeling too good.

Our vet said NO fat or salt/seasonings in cooking the chicken and also the boiled rice. I pressure cooked & shredded skinless chicken breasts after removing all possible fat (boiling/stewing in water would be the same thing). Then used the pure chicken broth to mix with rice and shredded chicken. She loved it, and it 'worked' well.
