Default Need a recipe using chopped dates

I'm usually the person people call when they need a recipe but I can't seem to find a recipe for chopped dates that sounds delicious. I have about 1/2 pound of chopped dates and need to use them up. Does anyone have the perfect recipe for me to try?? ....cookies, or muffins, or ??? I don't know.

nanna, I have a very simple cookie. will hunt for the receipe. It is a no bake. simply cook ingred on stove then shape into a strawberry and roll in red sugars. delish. now if I can just find it. gave it to a caterer and it is one of her go-to cookies for weddings. I know-quit yapping and go find the receipe! back as soon as I do

My favourite way of doing dates is date squares. There are tons of different recipes for date squares on the net but I like the ones where you cook the dates in a saucepan to create the filling. You use an oat mixture for a bottom crust, smooth the filling over the layer and top with the rest of the mixture and bake.
If you look up a Hermit cookie recipe or even use my Zucchini cookie recipe on QB, cut up dates can be used much like raisins.

The good cooks on this site will come up with some good ideas, but I also like www.foodnetwork.com and you can do a search.

I love Chocolate Chip Date Cake. You pour boiling water over the dates and let them cool. I put chocolate chips in the cake and top it with a mixture of chocolate chips, granulated sugar, and chopped nuts. If interested, I will put the recipe on here.

Matrimonial Cake is my very favourite, not sure if it's because it tastes yummy or if it reminds me of Mom!

All these ideas sound yummy..... better than what I was finding by searching. So...

Cherrio.... I'd love that recipe if you can find it.

Mo-rie.... yes, I'm interested. Could you post the recipe?

Tartan..... I'll have to look up date squares. I think I remember making those back in the day.

Scraps..... I'll check out the food network site. Thanks

Neesie, I hadn't thought of dates in bran muffins. I love bran muffins.

Thimblebug..6000...... I don't know what Matrimonial Cake is. I'll have to search for that one.

Thanks everybody.... I now have a good list of choices.
