Apple Streusel Bread Pudding
6 cups of day old bread- cubed
1 can of apple pie filling
½ cup of raisins
½ tsp. of cinnamon
1 ½ cup of milk
1/3 cup of sugar
½ tsp of vanilla
1/4 cup of margarine or butter
½ cup of flour
½ cup of brown sugar
In a buttered 8 inch square pan, put 4 cups of bread cubes. Mix apple, cinnamon and raisins and spread over bread cubes. Top with rest of bread. Mix eggs, milk and vanilla and pour over all. Let stand 10 min.
Cut butter into sugar and flour mix and spread over top of cubed bread. Bake 350 deg. For an hour.
This sounds sooo delicious! I think I'll try it out next weekend. Thanks!!
I do this too - I love streusel topping on anything and it keeps the bread pudding from getting that hard crust.
I made bread pudding the other day. Yum! This sounds tasty too so I'm saving the recipe for next time. My dh is a big apple pie fan and I'll bet he really likes it. Thanks for sharing.
I'm definitely trying this one! My DH might even like it! (He doesn't like bread pudding but likes apple pie!)
My oven heats up fast and I have cooked this in less than an hour so you will have to just watch it. I have always thought 1 hour was too long but then as I said my oven runs hot.
This sounds wonderful. I've been on a bread pudding kick the last few weeks and maybe I'll try this one in the next few days. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for posting this recipe., I have decided to make a QB cook book from quilters here. Looks like quilters here are great cooks as well. I love any kind of bread pudding.
