Got hungry for ribs, but we both have slight dental issues and needed my old recipe that I cook stovetop or in oven until meat falls off bone. Easy chew!
BARBEQUE RIBS 2 T salad oil 1 med onion(minced) 4-6 lg. beef short ribs 1/4 c vinegar 2 T brown sugar 1 c catsup 1/4 c water 3 T Worcestershire Sauce 1 t prepared mustard 1/2 c celery(diced) optional 2 t salt In Dutch oven or large skillet, heat oil and saute onion; remove. In same oil, brown ribs well on all sides. Add sauteed onion and remaining ingredients. Simmer, covered, turning occasionally for 1 1/2 to 2 hours. (Or until fork-tender) May be cooked in oven on about 400-450 degree for 3-4 hours. Serve on hot cooked rice, noodles or potatoes. Serve gravy separately. NOW..........I do not make small batches! I increase everything to cover my meats. I then add more water because I make it in a large roaster in the oven at 350-400 degrees. The meat I am cooking in the morning is 'country-style pork short ribs. If there is sufficient sauce, I throw in whatever I have.....pork chops, beef roast chunks, etc. Then I cook it until it falls apart!! |
Sounds good....you are making me hungry! I will have to try your recipe. Thanks for sharing!

We boil our ribs off first. Makes them tender and you can pour off the fat.
