Buckeyes

This easy candy recipe for Buckeyes makes wonderful balls of peanut butter covered in chocolate.

Prep Time: 1 hours, 00 minutes

Ingredients:
1-1/2 cup peanut butter
2-1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup margarine or butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Smucker's Chocolate Fudge Magic Shell

Preparation:
Mix peanut butter, sugar, margarine and vanill until semi-dry and crumbly. Shape into bite sized balls. Place balls on wax-papered covered cookie sheet. Freeze 1 hour. Dip into Smucker's Magic Shell, leaving top uncovered to resemble a buckeye. Freeze until serving. Makes 5 dozen.

Wonder if they even make this product, Magic Shell, anymore? I want to make buckeyes but don't really care for the chocolate coating if it tastes like shortening or paraffin (the mouth feel)?

I believe they still make it. comes in a couple flavors also.
I use the candy melts on mine instead of chocolate chips that my original recipe calls for. I don't care for adding parrafin like the recipe says and find the melting wafers harden without it and taste so much better. My recipe is the same as sondray's except it calls for a mixture of 6oz milk choc chips and 6 oz semisweet chips melted with 1" of parrafin for dipping.
