I love new potatoes and baked potatoes but hate heating up my gas oven. A friend told me to cook my potatoes in the crockpot.
Do Not Add Any Water or Liquids Too Easy to do Crockpot Potatoes Wipe the dust off the crockpot then spray inside with cooking oil. Add whole, unpeeled new potatoes. (I also lightly spray the potatoes) Put on the lid, cook on high about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. |

No, mine is well used and well loved. Especially in the summer. pam w.

I will try this!!!!
I have 3 crock pots and they get used all the time!!!! The girls even use theirs all the time too!!!! |
I use mine and since I am diabetic , I have a crockpot cookbook It's called "Fix It and Forget for Diabetics."
More time to sew while dinner is cooking! |
Sorry I didn't mean to imply that we quilters don't use our crockpots, moonpi....but sometimes I get in a rut of doing things the same old way and forget that my crockpots can be used instead of my oven, grill, or microwave.

I forget who originally posted a link to this online cookbook, but everything I've tried so far has been good. |
I use my crock pot and pressure cooker for just about everything. Doesn't have a chance to get dusty! LOL
|
We should, but we SO hate to cook that we usually have sandwiches or cereal. (And they're VERY cheap!)
|
Thanks Moonpi. Sent the link on to my daughter and bookmarked it.
|
Oh, mine gets used regularly, too..lol.
|
I gave away my crockpots. Even tried several different recipes, but regardless of what it was, to us, it all tasted the same. What do you guys do different?
|
I use a lot of herbs, always have, Tonight I made jasmine rice with chives and bacon . one part rice, 2 parts water, a tablespoon of chives per cup of rice, and bacon bits to taste. Tomorrow, I'll add a little cheese to it. I'll do beans or lentils in the crockpot to have with it. The next night, some jarred salsa will go in.
I know people who use only onions and garlic to season anything they cook, and it all tastes the same. What were you cooking? |
moonpi-I tried chicken, pork, beef and followed the recipes exactly, but it didn't matter what kind of meat or seasonings, it all tasted the same.
|
My dinner tonight was supposed to be a crockpot recipe (chicken stew), but ran out of time. The recipe came off the back of a Lipton Soup Box. So, instead of putting it all in the crock, I just put it on the stove. Came out great! Had to do some adjustments to it, but the meat (chicken) was so tender. No clue what I did to it to make it that way either. lol
Since Courtney wasn't feeling well and just had toast and hubby ate on the ship, guess what we are having for dinner tomorrow? Yup! LEFTOVERS!! :) Just need to pull out the bread machine to make a loaf of bread to go with it. |
I don't use my crockpot often, mostly in the winter. I'll have to dust it off and try some of these recipes. It will be easy with working and having two kids... prepare it in the morning and I won't have much to clean up when it is done cooking... more time to spend with my kids at night!
|
The maker of the turkey bags also makes crockpot liner bags . Makes for real fast, easy clean-up. Pam W.

That is a great idea! I bet it tastes the same too. I love those liners too... they work especially well for stews! Then you just throw out and forget!
|
The liners do work great!
One of the reasons why I do it up the night before is because I don't want to either cut myself OR put the wrong things in THAT early in the morning without having enough coffee in me. With doing it the night before, all the cleanup is done with the dinner dishes and voile! All is well and you don't have to worry about cleaning up the kitchen before you leave the house or dirty dishes sitting there while you are gone. :) |
Just need to pull out the bread machine to make a loaf of bread to go with it. Ellen |

I love my crockpot, but I hate to wash it!!!! It is too big to fit into the sink well and we don't have a dishwasher. So mine does need to be dusted before use. When I do pull it out to use, my mom always comes over because everything always turns out great when it is made in a crockpot!
Hugs! |
I have to wipe the dust off, LOL.

Just got a new Crockpot. Time to make my Boston Baked beans again.

Love my crockpots and pressure cookers............the only way to cook and get quilts made. Big fancy stove and ovens with all kinds of features.....never get used.
|
This is my fourth crockpot. They are the best when you are working. When I retired and moved I gave mine to my Daughters. Now that I am quilting I had to have another one. Best things for potroast. My Pressure cooker is for when I forgot to put something in the crockpot. Can't do without either one. Bill'sBonBon
