1 (12 oz) can of beer
1/2 c. sugar
3 c. self rising flour
butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 5 loaf pan.
Mix first three ingredients well, place in pan.
Bake for one hour....while every ten minutes, butter top of bread with small pieces of butter.
Yields one loaf.

This bread is easy to make and is very good with barbecue.

And no....you don't taste the beer. LOL

Does it matter what brand of beer I would use?

blueangel 10-14-2011 05:33 AM

I have tried this.

I would want to start with a "regular" beer then progress up the scale to a Guiness just to try it :-)

Is it sweet at all from the sugar?

I make a lot of yeast bread and don't ususally use any sugar. Unless it is meant for cinnabuns or the like.

This sounds like my kind of bread-easy!! I have a question though, the butter, you put the dabs as it's baking for the hour, right?
