Easy Beer Bread/Cinnamon Bread
Beer Bread
3 cups Self rising flour 1 cup sugar 1-12 oz. lite beer Mix together, pour into loaf pan sprayed with Pam. Bake 350 degrees 45 to 50 minutes or until done. (Cinnamon Raisin Bread)= add 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1 cup raisins. I also use brown sugar instead of white sugar. Which ever you have. If I make Cinnamon Bread I put a confectioner sugar and milk glaze on it. This recipe is easy and oh so good. Enyoy! |
I love beer bread! I make it when we have a stew or when I feel the need to make a loaf of fresh bread.

Boy that looks easy. I will have to try it.

Thanks so much for posting this! I was just thinking about beer bread yesterday when I realized I have a couple of lite beers left by a visiting relative. I don't like it myself (give me a Riesling anyday!) and I was trying to remember how to make the bread. I thought it was 1 cup sugar, 1 beer, and 3 cups flour, but had forgotten about the "self rising flour." Is there a way to use regular flour and maybe add something like baking powder to make up the self rising part?

You can make "self-rising" flour by adding a little salt and baking powder. The Taste of Home website says "As a substitute for 1 cup of self-rising flour, place 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a measuring cup. Add all-purpose flour to measure 1 cup."
