Everyone calls me the cookie lady. I love making good cookies and finding great recipes. This is one of many of my favorites.

Cherry Flips
1 Cup Butter
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 to 2 Teaspoons Almond Extract (flavoring)
2 Large Eggs
1/4 Teaspoon Salt
2 Cups Flour
30 Maraschino Cherries (rinsed & well drained) Reserve juice for icing

Cream butter and sugar, add flavoring and mix.
Add egg yolks and salt then mix in till well combined.
Stir in Flour.
Dough will be quite soft.
Pinch off little pieces and press flat in the palm of your hand. Like a two inch little thin pancake in your hand.
Insert a cherry and carefully fold and roll the dough around the cherry till closed in with no gaps or holes.
Place on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 325° for 25 minutes or till edges start to slightly brown.
When cold, dip in thin icing made from 1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar and 1/4 cup cherry juice.
Place on a baking rack so they can drip and dry for a several minutes.
Note: You want the icing thin enough that it will drip a bit over the cookie but not so thin that it leaves nothing on the cookies when draining on a baking rack. You might think that 1/4 cup of juice is not enough for that amount of sugar but trust me it is.

question about your cookies, ingredients call for 2 eggs, instructions says to use egg yokes. do you use the whole eggs or do you separate them? I am also known as the cookie lady in my neck of the woods :P I love to bake anything and everything when people come to visit I'm always sending them home with a bag of cookies. I am looking forward to trying your recipe.

I want to come to your house, or you could just mail me the bag of cookies. Your guests are lucky!

I like cream filled oatmeal cookies. Home made kind, I also like the store bought like " LITTLE DEBBIE" brand.

Soft Chocolate Cookies

1/4 c. + 1T oleo or butter
5 ounces of baking chocolate

melt together and mix well. Add 2 c. sugar and 1 egg, mix well.

Sift together
2 c. flour
2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt.

Add to chocolate mix, add 1/4 to 1/2 c. water if needed to mix in.
Chill dough 30 minutes in fridge. DO NOT exceed 30 minutes, dough will get too hard.

Roll into good size balls, dip tops in sugar if desired, bake at 300 degrees for 15-18 minutes.

These spread a little, but not too much. They will be soft when you take them out of the oven, let them set up and cool before removing from cookie sheet.

Peanut Butter Cookies

1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1-1/4 c. flour
3/4 t. b. soda
1/2 t. b. powder
1/4 t. salt
1 c. peanut butter chips.
granulated sugar

heat oven to 375. Mix brown sugar, butter, PB, and egg. Add dry ingredients and chips.
shape dough into 1-1/2" balls. Dip top of balls in granulated sugar. place sugar side up on ungreased cookie sheet about 3 " apart. Bake 9 to 10 minutes until golden brown , cool 5 minutes before removing from cookie sheets.

Do not flatten tops or criss-cross with fork. these spread out and get those nice crackle tops. If you make the balls perfectly round these will look like professional bakery cookies. I leave out the chips and they are still awesome.

sccop 1 1/2 inch balls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Cook until the edges get brown. Cool and gobble them with milk!

Could you please post your recipe for the cream filled oatmeal cookies if you have one? My DH would love for me to make some. He has been asking for oatmeal cookies for the last two days and I have lost his favorite recipe. Thanks, Ann in TN

No, you only use the yolks. The recipe calls for using 2 eggs but only the yolks are used. I guess I need to change that. It is the way I got the recipe but I can see it makes sense to just put egg yolks. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
You will really like these cookies. They are totally addictive.

I think I posted this one on June 25th but for those who might have missed it here it is again. It is an unusual cookie and very delicious for a chocolate chip cookie.
It is not your ordinary chocolate chip recipe. It really surprises people when they bite into them. They are from a bed and breakfast place that put them into a basket with a bottle of wine left in their customer's room for them at night. Called Sweet Dreams.

SWEET DREAM COOKIES

1 Cup Butter
1 ½ Cups Brown sugar
1 Large Egg
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
¼ Cup Sour cream
2 ½ Cups Flour
1 Teaspoon Baking soda
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1 Teaspoon Ginger
1 -2 Cups Chocolate chips
1 Cup Nuts (optional)

Cream butter using electric mixer.
Beat in brown sugar, egg, and vanilla.
Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and ginger.
Blend into butter mixture.
Fold in chocolate chips and nuts.
Refrigerate for 1 day to give the flavors time to blend.
Preheat oven to 375.
Make 1 1/2" balls aprox. and roll in powdered sugar.
Place on baking sheet about 2 inches apart, they do spread some.
Bake aprox. 10 min. Under bake if anything, they turn out nicer if they are just barely brown on the edges.
Let cool and transfer to airtight container.

Note.
I most often just bake them after mixing them up and they still turn out very nice.
I use a medium sized scoop and just scoop and drop into the powdered sugar. Keeps my hands cleaner that way.

Everyone asks for the recipe for the chewy chocolate cookies - but they don't keep well. I freeze whatever we aren't going to use within the next hour or two. (They really do taste stale by the next day!) My kids always ate these right out of the freezer. The snickerdoodles are great, too.

The glazed lemon cookies that I posted the other day are quite good. When I brought them to the Quilt Guild meeting...all I had to bring home was the plate.

My favorite are soft oatmeal with chocolate chips. Just use your favorite soft oatmeal cookie recipe & delete the raisins & add chocolate chips instead. Store in an air-tight tin or plastic container to keep soft. Yummy!!!!!

Sounds yummy, but when do you mix in the sour cream? (I have a recipe with the same name but no sour cream. Is it the same with an addition?)
