Thank's for shareing this. I'm have just the place to gave it a try. my son was cooking and turn on the wrong burner and now I have a real burn on mass.

Never put a hot pan in cold water...it will warp the pan...and could splash you dangerously

I just put a dryer sheet and some hot water and leave it over night....Lifts the burn right out...

I did that once to my big blue roaster and guess what there was a hint from Heloise in the paper that said if you put straight vinegar in the pan let it soak over night and it will be squeaky clean, I tried it and it is fantastic . No need to ruin a nice pot or pan

chips88, Place your pans in a black plastic trash bag, pour in about a cup or so of amonia, close tightly, set out in the sun for a couple of days, then just rinse off all the black. Works like a charm

I always used cream of tartar - put water & cream of tartar in the pan - bring to a boil - you will see the bits of black start to flake off - I always used a wooden spoon to scrape the black off too while it was boiling. Let cool empty & wash - if it didn't get all of it you can repeat the process

WOW thanks --I'm learning to cook on electric after 40 plus years of cooking on gas and I have burnt a few pots so hoping this is easier than scrubbing with green pads til my arms wear out.

I use backing soda with some water and heat to boiling...... turn off and let set for awhile. everything comes right out.

I did recently burn food onto a glass pan. Tried just about everything...even the dryer sheets...and nothing was working, I was about ready to throw away the pan. Then I tried baking soda...made a paste and applied over the bottom of pan, let it set awhile, then scrubbed...and got all the burned food off. Took quite a bit of "elbow grease"...but worked. Maybe would have been easier with vinegar, so if it happens again, will remember that.(hopefully I won't ever leave food in the oven overnight ever again...beets...roasting at 375 degrees...long story...but was glad my house didn't burn down!)
