1 chocolate cake mix
1 can sweet condensed milk
1 jar caramel or butterscotch ice cream topping
1 carton Cool Whip
1 or 2 large candy bars...Butterfinger, Hersheys....Kept cold till ready to use

Bake cake as directed on the box. When cake is done punch small holes in cake and pour the sweet condensed milk over the top. then pour on the ice cream topping. Let cool completely and spread on Cool Whip. Crush candy bars and sprinkle on top. Keep cake refrigerated. ....Enjoy!

pab58 08-09-2011 07:09 PM

OMGoodness!!!!  This is a keeper!!!! Of course, you DID take out the calories -- right??!!

rexie 08-09-2011 07:13 PM

Nooo. This is so rich and creamy with all the toppings that go on it. If I made it a lot, I wouldn't be able to get out of my chair.

When I first looked at this recipe, I thought holy cow this is a diabetic coma cake, and up popped an ad for diabetic cake recipes!

linmid 08-10-2011 04:51 AM

WOW! Guess what I'm taking to my next church luncheon. LOL That's the only way my DH won't OD on this cake. He is a chocaholic.

blueangel 08-10-2011 06:13 AM

You are right, it is a diabetic coma cake.

Tudey 08-10-2011 06:13 AM

I make the same cake, except for the candy bars (which I will definitely start adding!) and I take it to our quilting mini retreats sometimes. My girlfriends call it Ooey Gooey Cake and it is a HUGE hit!

dottientx 08-10-2011 06:16 AM

Small or large sized container of whipped topping?????

quiltingnana1 08-10-2011 07:44 AM

patimint 08-10-2011 05:48 PM

Holy cow is right. yummy, yummy, yummy. I could probably eat the whole thing, so will only make when company is coming. Thanks for the recipe.

Sandra in Minnesota 08-10-2011 05:58 PM

YIKES! ....I think I'm going into a coma. Just kidding - sounds wonderful.

dottientx 08-10-2011 06:10 PM

OMG! I feel so stupid! I had only read the ingredient list so I could jot everything down on my shopping list and it wasn't after I'd asked the dumb question about what size container of whipped topping it called for that I found the topping was actually the topping for the cake so didn't matter how much a person used. Can hardly wait to make the cake.

I make this cake also and have recently found the Heath Bar bits in a bag in the baking aisle. So much easier than having to crush them.

craftybear 08-10-2011 10:44 PM

great idea

Calories?????? All I saw was yummy GOODNESS!!!!! LOL LOL

rexie 08-11-2011 07:09 AM

This recipe does not call for calories. It actually goes better after supper when you have all the company gone home and you have your loungie pj's on and can sit and eat without having to talk inbetween bites.

KyKaren1949 08-11-2011 10:48 AM

Love it! We Kentucky Gals know how to enjoy our goodies, don't we?

You're definitely my kind of gal. I always love it when we make homemade ice cream, the company goes home and I get all the rest!!! Until now, I would never have admitted it though!!!

The Quiet Quilter 08-11-2011 06:30 PM

You gals are making me gain
weight just reading this. I'll
be trying this one too!
Hugs, Sharon
