Just to let you know, everyone raves about my pie crust if I use this rec. if not ho hum or leftovers, Know what I mean. I'm losey at pie crust except for this one. My mother called never fail...

sorry bout that. It's 1/4 cup. I usually use Crisco. It makes 2 crust. I brush the bottom crust with egg wash and bake till it just barely browns so the bottom will be baked better.

plain flour or self-rising?

Thanks for the recipe. my usual recipe makes enough for 4 double crusts and there is just two of us.

I will have to try this

I'll try this...my two sisters had a pie baking contest this weekend...one home made crust, one Pillsbury Crust. Dad refused to pick a winner and ate them both!

have you ever made a double crust usijg this recipe?

Marysewfun 09-28-2011 03:01 PM

That sounds easy enough - will have to give it a try. I have otherwise made one in a food processor that usually turns out pretty good - - put this sounds pretty foolproof - - until I try it! :-) Thank you.

I use the box one pie pie crust mix. Mix it with 5 tbs cold water mix till makes a ball chill 2 hrs. roll out makes perfect pies every time. Box cost about .59

I've never seen 1 1/4 cups written as 1//4. I would have thought careless typer and gone on about my business. 1 1/4 cups water would make something like wall papper paste.
