Need help---- turkey pie

Hi all... hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Now I need help! I have turkey leftovers and I want to make a turkey pie like my mother used to make. Unfortunately, I never asked how she did it or paid much attention when she was making one. I think she just cut the leftovers in small pieces, put in a pie crust, salt and peppered and then sprinkled a little water over the top. Cris-crossed strips of 2nd pie crust on top, crimped the edges and baked.

Can anyone fill in the blanks? Am I missing anything? And what temp and how long to bake. Any help greatly appreciated!

No recipe here. I'd mix the chopped turkey with some gravy and add in some veggies (leftovers? or fresh?) and saute some onions. S+P as you said, and if you wish, additional seasonings. If there's leftover dressing, you could crumble it and add it to the mix too.

Another possibility would be to do it like a shepherds pie with a similar mix on the bottom, and mashed potatoes overtop.

Bake the same as you would a pie.

If you want a recipe to follow or to use as a guide ... Google will be glad to provide!!

If the turkey is already cooked than you can just do it the way you mentioned. If you had gravy or turkey juice left, I would put a little in so it doesn't get too dry. All you would need to do is put it in the oven long enough for the pie to get good and hot and the pastry to brown. Depending on your oven 45 min to an hour at 350º. If you're looking for a recipe, try googling chicken pot pie. A different bird but basically the same.

Ok, I did it! I dusted the bottom of the pie crust with flour (about a tablespoon). I chopped the turkey and added a little salt and pepper. Put the turkey in the pie shell and topped with strips to make a lattice type top. I left a couple of strips off and poured in about 1 - 1 1/2 cups of chicken broth in and then added the last two strips and crimped the edges. I baked for about 35-40 minutes on 425 and let rest about 10 minutes. Should have rested a little longer, but it was delicious - just like my mother used to make! I heated up my leftover gravy, dressing and candied yams and proceeded to eat way too much! lol. Thanks for the help!
