Just had to share a couple of things with this receipe. This is an age-old recipe, some of the names is has been called is "Better Than Sex Dessert" and "The Next Best Thing to Robert Redford" if that tells you how long I have known the recipe!! My recipe doesn't call for the Kalua but I am sure that it's good with that. You can also exchange pistachio pudding for the chocolate (or any other flavor for that matter).

Yum!!!! Always a hit at family parties here!!!

There goes my diet. Will have to make and give the rest away.

Thanks for the recipe. I was looking for it for a long time since I lost all my collected recipes when my desktop had to be resetted back to factory conditions.

This so much like the one I use called Dirty Pudding. Instead of making the baked crust, you crush Oreo cookies and press into the bottom of pan, mix the cream cheese, powdered sugar and whipped topping and pour on top of cookies. Then mix the chocolate pudding with milk and pour next layer, then mix vanilla pudding and milk for next layer. Dollop more cool whip on top and sprinkle crushed oreos on top. It is yummy.

A great Peaches 'n Cream dessert is based on this recipe also. My recipe for the base and first layer are different (listed below), but in lieu of the second layer with the pudding, you combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water and 3 Tblsp. cornstarch in a small cooking kettle and while on medium heat, bring to bubbling and cook one minute, stirring constantly. Add one small package of peach gelatin and cook one more minute. COOL and then add 4 cups of fresh sliced peaches. I don't bother with the 3rd layer cuz it's good without it. My base recipe is : 2 cups flour and 3/4 cup melted butter (nuts optional). And my first layer is 1-8oz. pkg softened cream cheese and 3 cups powdered sugar. Then fold in a 12 oz container of Cool Whip. ENJOY.

One of my extended family's favorites, too! We call it "Sex in a Bowl". I use pecans in the crust, and have made it with the pudding and whipped cream topping. But, instead, our favorite is canned pie filling. Strawberry is the best, and cherry comes in a close second. YummmmYummmmm......
All the kinfolks are disappointed if this dessert doesn't show up at family gatherings and meals.

I got this recipe in 1970 while living in Louisiana and it was named "Texas Delight". Moved to TX in the 80ies and they had never heard it called that! Whatever you call it, it is delicious!

Sounds good want to make it, but what is icing sugar and where do you get it?
