Sugar free fat free carb free glutten free cholesterol free

I saw this label on a new product line the local grocery is stocking. I thought well what is in it, water? LOL. I bought the bleu cheese dressing to try it out. It's not bad at all to be nothing. The ingredients aren't that bad. There is a variety of salad dressings and other products at the store. Anyone tried these foods made by Walden Farms?

OK ... if you like artificial food!
The ingredients can't be all that great if all those things are missing!
JIMHO!

I looked at some of the ingredients. It's basically water, artificial flavors, artificial sweeteners, and artificial thickeners. In other words, artificial food. :D

Maybe that's why I'm "artificially fat". LOL I've used some of their salad dressings.

I tried the chocolate dip last year. It tasted ok kind of like a pudding.

If allergic to these foods, they do make a difference.

The ingredients list of the dressing has no artificial flavors at all. Actually not that bad: Water, white vinegar, sour cream natural flavor (non dairy), lemon juice, salt, natural flavors, natural spices, minced garlic, chopped onion, white pepper, blue cheese natural flavor (non dairy), latic acid, and preservative to keep freshness. DH needs to drop a few lbs and he loves his salad dressings and mayo. I thought I would mix it 50/50 with his favorite. That will cut a lot of calories. Gotta go sew!

They sound interesting. I am going to check out my local stores to see if I can find it.

"Sour cream flavoring (non-dairy)" "Bleu cheese flavor (non-dairy)" Flavor can be imitated, chemically. Unless it specifically says "natural," it probably isn't. Sucralose is also questionable, IMO.

Hey, I'll be glad to try them if it helps me with my weight problem. Sure I'd rather have real butter, real sour cream, real mayo but that's what got me in this shape to begin with. To each his own, but I'm going to check them out. thanks for posting the website.

I like all their products-just need to watch the salt content. They even came out with peanut butter. Try mixing various flavors with yogurt or mustard. Enjoy! Our local grocery store now has a sale on all Walden Farm products.

I like some of the Walden Farms products. I joined a weight loss program a couple of years ago, lost 60 lbs in 9 months and Walden Farms products was one of the brands they recommended.

far as taste goes they're not bad. used them a few years ago. i haven't rotted or turned into a robot yet. everything is made up of chemicals. that's what we call the atoms that get together. water is hydrogen and oxygen, two chemicals. can't escape them. it's whether the body can tell the man made chemicals from the natural ones and what it does in response. if it causes cells to mutate and become cancer, that's a negative response. if it passes through and makes no changes, that's a benign response. if it causes something good to happen, that's the response we want. if it helps those of us on restricted diets to feel less restricted and more normal ( like other people) i'd say that can be a pretty positive response.

You know, they make these products because some people can't tolerate the ingredients they have excluded. So for some of us, it is good news.

I use the strawberry syrup, frozen strawberries in a custard cup with some syrup on them. I let the berries with syrup set on the counter for about 1 hour, tastes like strawberry pie, that is my treat. I have used the dressings while I lost 40# but still use the strawberry syrup--just because it is good.

If you are diabetic you need sugar free, carb free. If you have Celiac Disease you need gluten free. If you have heart disease you need fat free. If you have kidney disease, don't use this too often - the sodium is high. Some people have all of these- my husband is one of them.

Tartan 06-07-2012 02:15 PM

I prefer to have my salad dressing on the side. I find I can use half as much so I figure I've saved half the calories. I think it's great that companies are meeting some special needs.

Helen S 06-07-2012 03:40 PM

The issue is that diabetics should not have sugars, and not all, but most foods on the market contain some sort of sugar. Walden Farms products are geared toward that issue, and it's nice to have companies who understand that not everyone can have sugar.

We tried their "maple syrup" and found it to be very difficult to swallow, for lack of a better way to say it. It was very gelatinous and slimy. We do lots of shopping at http://www.netrition.com and they also carry the Walden Farms brand...maybe cheaper?

Lisa_wanna_b_quilter 06-07-2012 04:57 PM

I have the Caesar dressing from them. It's not as good as the real thing but an adequate substitute for me. I will keep eating it.

Caswews 06-08-2012 06:44 AM

interesting .. will have to check things out ..

mltquilt 06-09-2012 07:55 AM

One of the grandkids has Type 1 diabetes, celiac disease, and to top that off thyroid problems and she is only 9 years old. Products like these, while not for everyone have a place. Just because you might not want to eat them doesn't mean there aren't people who want to or actually need to because of health conditions.
