7 cups cucumbers - peeled and sliced
1 cup green pepper - cut in strips
1 onion - sliced
Mix all of the above together and place in a large glass jar (not plastic).

Pour over in the following order:
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon whole mustard seed
2 teaspoons Kosher salt
2 cloves garlic
1 cup cider vinegar

Be sure to pour vinegar over last and DO NOT STIR. Mixture will gradually sink to form juice. Keep refrigerated. Pickles will be ready to eat in a few days (around 4 days). Can be re-packed into smaller jar once reduced in volume. Will keep for 1 year in refrigerator.

Sounds yummy! Wonder if you could cut the recipe in half?

Thanks, my hubby loves bread and butter pickles, Farmers brand and I can't find them any more. I'll try this one and see if he licks it.

This looks good. Will hit the farmers market tomorrow for the cucumbers. My grandmother used to make these. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the nice comments.

This IS really easy to make. The hardest part is finding a jar big enough. If you don't have a large enough jar, use 2. You'll be surprised how much the batch shrinks.

It's a good way to use up those cucumbers that got kind of large in the garden. I scoop the seeds out of those.

At Christmas, I pack it in pint or half-pint jars and include it in a basket of homemade goodies.

I use this same recipe and added some to a pail already made this morning.
