Smile Question on 3, 2, 1, cake

I went over all the posts on a recent discussion of the 3, 2, 1, cake and did not notice if the container used for the cake should be sprayed with cooking spray. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks

I don't spray mine and they come out fine. We eat them right from the cup with a little ice cream on top.

I don't spray mine and they are fine; I use a small ramekin. You should also try the peaches on the bottom, use a yellow cake mix w/ the angel food cake mix. Use the juice for the liquid, this is really good!!

I should probably tell you I use the diced peaches in the individual cups!

I did this with my grandchildren - they made everyone a mug cake after dinner. We wished we had sprayed the bottom of the mugs with PAM before hand for easier cleaning. Strawberry cake/angel food cake with sliced strawberries and whip cream. Fun for them to make and they tasted good!

I spray before baking anything, even when recipes say not to. I've never seen any down side to using the spray.

Met today with my siblings and talked about the cake. Brother suggests only using the white cake mix and add your flavors from there. He suggested adding some dutch chocolate in the mug for a chocolate flavor. Another suggested using lemon juice for the water and lemon zest to taste. I used a chocolate cake mix and did not spray the mug and it just dropped out. I will make a bunch and then make individual layer cakes for the family. Would be cute to make the white cake mix for Easter and decorate them.
Just emailed them the versions found here.

It might not rise if you spray the cup.

I sprayed the cup, the stuff really bakes on if you don't and you have to soak it a bit. But my son makes them all the time and he never does. Also he doubles the recipe and makes it in a regular cereal bowl and only cooks it for 1 min 40 seconds. We have chocolate, with only one person eating them (son) it will last us forever.

You're not supposed to grease the bowl. it's like an angel food cake and you never spray the pan.
