Working on a Featherweight. When I apply 120 VAC to the motor pins it runs.
The controller puts out +- 3 to about 54 then jumps to 120 at full stop.

Hmm - I'm not a fan of WD-40 as a lubricant mainly because it really isn't but as a cleaner I find it effective.
Perhaps you can help me understand why its use in this situation would be inadvisable?

Just not nice and shiney... which I find vaguely disconcerting.
My guess is a spray of WD-40 followed by a good brushing and wiping and then oiling...

Very true. It is a brand new old school machine with a warranty at a pretty fair price.
+-$400 with lots of accessories.
Waay better than the plastic craptastic machines out there.

What a piece of cr*p! it's plastic - the rubber on the drive surface is more like slippery...
